Miami Dade College Fall 2015 RN Program

Hey guys,

I figured I should share what I know about the Fall 2015 application so far.

So far this is what I know:

  1. Spring 2015 students do not need an entrance exam - let's see if they keep it this way for Fall 2015 applicants
  2. There will be a mandatory SOS Pre Nursing Bootcamp that will need to be attended upon acceptance to the program.
  3. I called advising today (7/7/14) the receptionist said I should start applying in January, but I'll confirm that once again before then.
  4. 60% sciences and 40% cumulative GPA is still the criteria as far as we know.

I figured this should be a great place for us to share our anxiety about our apps and build some friendships :).

Update!!!

My friend and I went to the medical campus and asked if they have been sending acceptance letters out? They advisor said "absolutely not". He got angry to hear someone could lie about getting accepted when in fact all they are doing right now is evaluating! So there you have it, they are evaluating our applications. I told my friend to tell her friend "lying doesn't get you very far in life" and now she's known as the liar in that class. Again, they haven't sent anything out yet. They will be sending letters in June.

Annnnnnnd I'm truly sorry for stressing everyone about that girl receiving a letter, when now we all know she was lying.

What if the person got accepted for May but deffered their position until August.

That is not possible. You either accept your seat or you don't. If you decline you seat you have to apply again before Sept so you can start spring Jan 2016 and you have to do do the entrance test. This time was not required but for Spring 2016 is required.

Do any of you guys know if the school gives you the reason why if you are rejected? Just out of curiosity.

Considering the only thing they asked us for is our grades and GPA... the only reason for rejection could be that your grades are not up to par.

I was just asking because a friend of my sister got rejected for spring semester 2014 and she had a 3.89 overall gpa and a 4.0 science gpa. I didn't get to ask her in more detail because she moved to Louisville KY and got accepted at Galen College.

I believe in spring 2014 they were using an entrance exam. Either the teas, I believe it was. Probably her exam score had something to do with it. They were using exam score and science gpa for entrance in spring and fall of 2014.

I believe her score was 87 or 89%. Who knows. She just graduated from the program in Kentucky and she's starting her BSN in the fall at the University of Louisville.

The less the better. Lol. Did you see and advisor for the sls course ? For the AA In pre nursing ?
