Hi everyone!
I'm applying to MGHIHP for the Fall 2014 (or summer I guess since it starts in May) semester because I think it looks like a great program with good reviews from past and current students. I submitted my application on the deadline, November 1st. The only problem right now is that only two of my three recommendations are in. I'm really upset about it because I don't want it to negatively reflect on me. I spoke to this woman multiple times to submit the letter and she promised that she would by the end of the day on November 1st (which was 50 minutes ago). It's officially late now :-( Does anyone have any advice about what I should do?? Do you think it'll affect my application? Any other applicants out there??
Hello!
I just sent in my deposit to hold my spot for the May 2014 ABSN Program. I was originally on the waiting list, but received an email last week saying a few spots had opened up! I applied to a few other schools and got into some but due to some annoying setbacks at the other school I really wanted to go to (the school LOST my most recent pre-req transcript, one of my recommendation letters was submitted incorrectly) I have not gotten a decision back yet! I didn't want to give up the opportunity here so I sent in my deposit. MGH was my other top choice so I am plenty happy :) I was just wondering if anyone knows the next steps in the process and when I should expect a background check, when I should get a physical, and when I should hear back about my FAFSA. I submitted my FAFSA last week when I heard about my acceptance. Congrats to everyone and look forward to meeting y'all in May!!
Ahh also just accepted off the wait-list & now I have a difficult decision to make. Also accepted to Drexel and wait-listed at my top choice school so idk what to do!! I was all set to live in Philly and now I'm rethinking things...
Congrats TolDoll!! Yeah, I'm also deciding between Philly and Boston. I LOVE Boston, and have never been to Philly, so I still have a lot of research to do :) good luck making your decision; I'm sure you'll figure out what will work best for you.
Thanks ND_Irish! Based on program reviews from students I am strongly leaning towards putting a deposit down at MGH and letting Drexel go. Their 11mo. program & student complaints I've read make me nervous! I also think Boston is a beautiful city but Philly is great in its own way and I've learned to love it. If I get off Penn's wait-list I have one tough decision to make! Let me know how things end up going with you. Looks like we could possibly see each other around =)
Boston is WAYYYY better than Philly! MGH is my vote!
I absolutely LOVE Boston! I visited this past weekend and completely fell in love. I definitely want to live there, even if I end up there after getting my BSN. School-wise though, I'm comparing the pros and cons of MGH vs Penn... So it's a tough choice.
How has everyone liked the program? I'm applying for May 2015 and I'm very excited! My only worry is financing and I've heard different stories and opinions about working while in school.
I have a friend who was in the program and worked part time throughout. They said some people had two kids and still worked and survived the program. I've completed a CNA training so I'm thinking that the first semester might be easier than most? Admissions told me today though that they recommend not working at all...or very little. This isn't really an option for me as I have loans from two degrees and I'm trying to not take out money for living expenses.
I also have a Masters in health promotion and work for MGH as a health educator.
Does anyone have any advice or input? Also if anyone has info on how their scholarships work that would be great! I have an overall 3.6 (grad and undergrad) with a 3.8 in pre reqs.
Hi Everyone! I just got into MGH for the May 2016 start and I am wondering if any if you who ended up attending the program would share how satisfied you were with you experience there. I am from California and would be making quite the move to attend, so I am just trying to soak up as much info as possible while I weigh my options! I'd really appreciate all of your input!! Thank you :)

Did you end up going?! I'm from California as well and got in for the May 2017 start and was hoping I could hear about how the move went!

Hey everyone! I just got an e-mail yesterday and got accepted after being wait listed! I also just had an interview at UMass Amherst which I'm leaning more towards because it's cheaper. Has anyone heard any negative feedback on the UMass program??
Kmp530 Thanks for all that information! I'm from the Boston area but I've always loved the North End. I know it's super expensive but like you said, it would be nice for the duration of the program! Do you need a car? If so, where do you park in the North End?
Thanks for your help!
