Hi everyone!
I'm applying to MGHIHP for the Fall 2014 (or summer I guess since it starts in May) semester because I think it looks like a great program with good reviews from past and current students. I submitted my application on the deadline, November 1st. The only problem right now is that only two of my three recommendations are in. I'm really upset about it because I don't want it to negatively reflect on me. I spoke to this woman multiple times to submit the letter and she promised that she would by the end of the day on November 1st (which was 50 minutes ago). It's officially late now :-( Does anyone have any advice about what I should do?? Do you think it'll affect my application? Any other applicants out there??
and I'm in the same boat as both of you haha. MGH wasn't my top choice (I actually already paid a deposit somewhere else) but I got in with a scholarship as well that makes it really hard to say no. I actually grew up right outside of Boston, so I think it's pretty likely that I'll be going to MGH! As for the sense of community...I'm not really sure what to expect. I think our cohort will become pretty close. It'll be a tough year for sure but I think we'll get through it, hopefully it'll be fun too.
Hi everyone! Congrats on getting in! I'm in my 3rd semester at MGHIHP and have had a great experience thus far! For those of you who are asking about the community feel on a small campus...you get really close with everyone in your program and the faculty and staff are really supportive. Even though it's not a typical college they still offer opportunities to get involved. There are several clubs and we get emails every few days telling us about opportunities like just the other day we got notified of a dodgeball tournament we could sign up for to benefit a charity. It is definitely not cheap to live in Boston but I know a lot of people who live in Brookline which is a really nice and safe area just outside the city with great T access. If you have any questions just let me know! I know it's really overwhelming to start one of these programs but it's so worth it!

Hi kmp530! I have a ton of questions, but for now I'll only ask a few...haha. How many people are in your ABSN cohort? How has your clinical experience been like? Are you usually placed at MGH and the Brigham, or are you at a bunch of different Partners in Health sites? And it's good to hear that you all become a little community even though you don't have a huge campus feel... that's honestly one of the biggest downsides for me when considering MGH as a choice. I don't want to feel disconnected or isolated!
There's about 80 in mine now but the cohort that just started has 120 people. My clinicals have been great! I've been at either MGH or the Brigham for my med surg, pediatrics, and maternity clinicals and that's where most of the assignments are. There's plenty of ways to get connected with other students and each class gets money every semester to have an activity together. I think it's great to live with other people in the program because that way you have people to relate to and support you and go to class with. There are some classes that are online or online and in class so you don't have a ridiculous amount of hours in class each week. There's also plenty of resources for new students such as a mentoring program and teaching assistants who can work with you one on one if you are struggling.

Does any one know how many people apply/ how many people are accepted per Cohort?
