MGHIHP Accelerated BSN May 2014

Hi everyone!

I'm applying to MGHIHP for the Fall 2014 (or summer I guess since it starts in May) semester because I think it looks like a great program with good reviews from past and current students. I submitted my application on the deadline, November 1st. The only problem right now is that only two of my three recommendations are in. I'm really upset about it because I don't want it to negatively reflect on me. I spoke to this woman multiple times to submit the letter and she promised that she would by the end of the day on November 1st (which was 50 minutes ago). It's officially late now :-( Does anyone have any advice about what I should do?? Do you think it'll affect my application? Any other applicants out there??

Hey there! I also applied to MGHIHP for Summer 2014. Sorry to hear your last letter of recommendation is late! I hope she has submitted it by now. You can always call the admissions office, the telephone number is located on the website and explain your situation to them. There is usually always one of recommender who takes their time. I had the same issue and I had to keep notifying them weekly. Good luck!!!!

Hi, I have applied for May as well! I am sure they have dealt with this before and I would not worry too much, it is not a reflection of you. I struggled between choosing recommenders who would write a good recommendation and who I could rely on. I agree though, I would call and explain your situation! Good luck!!

I also applied for MAY admission. Does anyone know when we'll hear back? I'm terrified because I'm still taking per-reqs yet I wanna know if I have a chance. :) good luck to everyone

I was looking at previous posts from people who have applied for the previous co-horts, I believe we hear in 4-6 weeks, but it could take longer depending on how many applicants they have. I hope we hear sooner, the anticipation is killing me. I am also taking one of my pre-reqs. Which pre-reqs are you taking? Good luck to you as well! :)

Thanks for your advice guys! I nixed the evasive recommender and added one of my current professors in her place because this is way too important to me. She said she'll have it done today or tomorrow & I'll call admissions as well.

And 4-6 weeks is so soon to hear back! (Yet soo long.) I'm currently taking A&P and chem for prereqs and then next semester I have A&P II to take.

I'm taking AP and Stats online (8wks) in January. :)

Hey there don't worry too much about the details MGH IHP admissions is very understanding when it comes to problems like yours.

I applied and was accepted to the Spring 2014 cohort starting in January. One of my non-official transcripts was late due to a computer glitch and the folks at admissions were very helpful and said they would consider all materials they receive right up until the actual review. The stress you are experiencing now in the application process is the same stress that will help you study and get assignments in on time when you get accepted.

Just look at it that way and continue to persevere, you'll be fine.

congratulations on your acceptance for the January start! Just curious, how long did it take you from the application deadline to get you letter?

@ Lisa14: Would you mind sharing where you're taking the classes online in 8 weeks? I need to knock out some pre reqs pretty quickly.

Thanks!

MassBay Community College (and pretty much any other Massachusetts community college) offers a lot of 8 week courses that you can either take during the first part of the semester or during the latter half of the semester. Its up to you and of course depends on the available of these courses. I would look into them now seeing as many courses are still open before winter break starts. I hope this helps!
