MGH IHP ABSN January 2018 Cohort

Hi everyone -

Is anyone else applying for the MGH IHP ABSN January 2018 cohort?

If so, care to stress out with me? :)

Has anyone heard yet? The anxiety is killing me, I'm so nervous!!!!!

Nope! I'm honestly not expecting to hear until after Labor Day. I hope it's sooner though!

Based on past threads, applicants received an email stating their decision was made around September 9-15th. Only a few weeks away! Fingers crossed. The wait is terrible.

Did anyone notice that on the MGH website, it now states that the diversity statement must be 2 pages in length and the question to address? On my application it said optional and I never noticed that information on their website until today.

I know the application requirements have recently changed. I know when I applied it did not state anything about the diversity statement being 2 pages. I hope that doesn't affect my chances of admission. I know the personal statement requirement also changed to a double spaced format although it was single spaced 2 pages when I checked before submitting. Hopefully these changes are for Summer 2018 applicants and forward.

When I applied through NursingCAS it said the diversity statement was optional and there was just a text box to copy and paste it into. There would have been no way to know if the statement was 2 pages in length or not.

Hopefully the changes are for future applicants as was stated above! Is the question they want you to address different than before? I can't even bring myself to look at the website because it's too stressful! :D

I agree 100%! I get too nervous to even go onto the MGHIHP website lol!

I think I may call on Monday just to double check. But I am also second guessing doing that because it's a month past the deadline anyways and does not really change anything. Oh well.

Ugh! Between the deadlines changing and this it's just very stressful and confusing! My application requirement also said the personal statement was 2 pages single spaced. It doesn't look like the criteria for the diversity statement has changed but the required length has, and I'm hoping that doesn't negatively affect my chances either! As stated above, it's impossible to tell the length when it is just a text box. I am hoping that the guidelines that were written on the application itself should only be counted. It seems like the process has been slightly disorganized compared to past cohort threads I've read?

Yes I am very confused. I know I submitted everything that was required (only because I quadruple checked before hitting the submit button). Hopefully it was just changed immediately after our original deadline :(

In light of the fact that the three of us are all in the same boat, I think it's safe to assume that most of the other applicants are in it as well. I know that I was incredibly careful to follow the instructions on the NursingCAS website and I checked the whole application over multiple times before I submitted it. I would assume that the admissions committee is aware of the instructions on NursingCAS and would default to those.

I can't imagine they would pass on a well qualified candidate solely because they didn't double space the personal statement! (Right? Right?)
