MGH Direct-Entry Nursing 2014

Published

I just sent in my application for MGH Direct-Entry Nursing 2014 and I was hoping to get in touch with other applicants. I applied for the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP. The wait is going to kill me! I'm wondering about other people's backgrounds (GPA, GRE scores, experience, etc.) and if anyone has an idea of who MGH accepts. Look forward to hearing from you!

EPOC --- i also got a call last night accepting me to the adult primary care track at Northeastern! What are your thoughts on the program?? I really don't have a "first choice," so I am kind of lost at this point!

I'm trying not to set my heart on a specific school until I have a better sense of where I will get in. MGH is probably my top choice; I have heard great things from alumni.

I was on the fence with Northeastern, but I (surprisingly) really enjoyed the interview. I have heard rumors that they do not always have appropriate clinical placements for everyone, which makes me nervous. It's expensive - like the rest of the programs - but I appreciate that they give a BSN and MSN. I am still mulling it over.

I am curious to know how others are deciding on their top programs!

I only applied to Regis and MGH because I was pretty picky about the application process cost and didn't want to move to a different state for the program. I started with BC, Northeastern, MGH and Regis originally, and narrowed down to the two I would attend if accepted after attending info sessions and campus visits.

I liked that Regis awarded the BSN halfway through the program and had a smaller class (60 or so I think). I work for two Boston area professors now and when they reached out to their contacts in the field, they had great things to say about MGH over a few others so they edged out Regis as my top choice, even though they don't award the BSN until you complete the whole program, which is the only drawback I personally felt the program had.

I am wondering what time the admissions office closes and if we will not be hearing today :(

They close at 5....i think hope is lost for the day...

the past two years (i think -- definitely at least last year) they send out an email in the evening saying decisions would be posted the next day, and then they are posted at midnight.... so hope is not lost yet!

I could be wrong about all this but I think thats what the past years threads have indicated

yah i just checked to make sure... seems like were notified by email at 9pm... that they were to receive their decisions the next day (maybe they found out a little earlier than that...) and then they received their decisions on their application at midnight

@epoc - yeah i agree - had the same experience at my interview. trying to keep an open mind. i have at this point ruled out BC as they do not award a second bachelor's and columbia due to cost of living in NYC.

i also don't know much about MGH, unfortunately don't have any alumni connections, but applied because of the reputation. best of luck to you and everyone else!

Every other top-tier program I applied to explicitly stated the date admissions decisions would be released, or at least a specific timeframe (UCSF, Columbia, Yale- gave an exact date but decisions not released yet) and then we received a letter on the exact day. I think it's kind of strange the way MGH handles their admissions process. Everyone that calls the admissions office gets a different answer and no one seems to know anything for sure. Maybe there is a method to their madness; but to an outsider, just flapping in the wind waiting for news, it feels a little disorganized.

Columbia only said Feb they didn't give an exact date... just saying

droux, what is the date for UCSF? and where is it posted?
