Anyone gotten an acceptance letter yet? If not when do you think the earliest that we'll hear?
The program starts June 1st. I can keep you posted on the program in case you were thinking of applying next year. Simmons has a program that starts in the Fall but I think it might be a 2yr accelerated program. I'm not sure if you've checked them out, but I went to the info session and loved it. There's also Mass School of Pharm & Health Sciences...I haven't heard much about the Boston program. I heard a lot of great things about Curry too!
If any current or former accelerated MGH nursing students are on here, where would you guys recommend living during attending the program? close to mgh? close to a t stop on a certain line? close to mgh institute?
Do you have a car? If possible I would suggest living on/near the T. There is a shuttle form the school to north station and MGH. North station is on the green line and MGH is on the red line so anywhere on those lines are both good. I also love Charlestown, so if you can afford to live there I would suggest it! I live outside the city but I have a car, but since I am outside the city, I was placed at more sites outside the city. There s a parking garage near the school for $5 a day, so if you need to commute it's not that bad. I will go through the whole program and never had a clinical at MGH! Not a big deal, just kind of funny. I've loved all my clinicals so no complaints here! Davis square in Somerville is a nice/fun area that's convenient (on the red line).
Hi, all
(Rookie12--you are going to have reveal yourself to me on private channels!;-)
I actually spoke at the open house on Sunday and will be working with your class. I live WAY outside the city-west of Boston. The parking garage at the navy yard is a great deal-you add $100 at a time and it costs $5/day. Then it is free on weekends and after 6 AND here's the best part--you can get access to use the MGH garage FREE after 6 and on weekends with your student ID. This is great for looking up patient info before your clinical day on med/surg. And you may already know about the free shuttle around the partners network. I honestly thought the commute and distance and parking were going to be a huge hassle and that was not the case at all. Speaking as someone who has been in the boston area since college a looooong time ago and was a student here--Somerville/Davis square is a very nice place to live with a great scene for younger people new to the area. I lived in Allston (BU undergrad) and I still go back to Allston for date nights with my husband....
What was the question again??? ;-)
oxojoyoxo2,
I haven't received anything either. I called today and was told not everyone was taken off the waitlist. So I'm assuming we're still on??? Who knows...the guy I spoke to wasn't too helpful. It could be up to the start of classes when we find out our status. I've already accepted to another program but MGH was one of my top choices. Have you applied elsewhere??
