Anyone gotten an acceptance letter yet? If not when do you think the earliest that we'll hear?
Hi, everyone! I am in the MGHIHP ABSN 2010 like Rookie12, and I too can put myself in your shoes a year ago at this time, dying for information. I will actually be speaking to you about our program and my experience at the session later in March. Yes, it is an incredible journey, and although there have been a few frustrations, overall, I would recommend this program. I also do not spend a lot of time to people saying a lot of negative things about jobs etc. What's the point? You will be a nurse, and you will work. That's a guarantee. Who gets their dream job right away? Some do.... but not me! I am thrilled just to be able to become a nurse. But I digress. My best advice for all of you dying for program info right now is that I would clear my schedule from May 10th forward. In my honest opinion, unless you have to, do not work or find a job that has a very flexible part time schedule. Unless you are working for your dad or mom, you will not be able to tell people what your life will be like after May 10. Yes, you will have time to have a life, kind of, but don't try to fit the puzzle pieces together until then. And if the people in your class are 1/2 as amazing as mine, you are going to have a great experience. We all help each other and support each other as much as possible. Please feel free to contact me through this forum if you would like!
Good luck!
thanks ... i have another quick question. the school mentions that students must participate in clinical and laboratory experiences that require exposure of body parts and palpation of body structures by faculty and students of both sexes. What type of clinical and lab exercises are we doing? and who will be exposed patients or students? I hope it certainly is not me lol.

They're referring to the Health Assessment course. You do practice on each other, but it's not bad, I promise. And the lab instructors are very clear that if you don't feel comfortable having someone examine you, you are not obliged to do so. (But really, all it is is someone feeling your belly, and other easily exposed parts like arms, legs, head). The BSN students only take the basic Health Assessment course, so I don't think you'll have to worry about learning to do breast exams or pelvics. For things of that nature, the school typically hires "models" who are willing participants.
