MGH accelerated BSN 2010

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Anyone gotten an acceptance letter yet? If not when do you think the earliest that we'll hear?

Reading the posts from this time last year, it sounded like some MGH accelerated BSN applicants were accepted around 12/19 and others received an email that they were in the "second cohort" and would hear in January.

Hi!

I read the same thing about finding out after December 19th in the last years and then how some people do not hear until almost March?

I am nervous I feel like there are soo many applicants.

It seems to be very popular program with strong applicants. Have you heard how many applied?

I think maybe, the people that heard in March were on the wait list?

No letter nor emails yet. Wouldn't it be nice to know before the Holidays? Wishing all the best!

Interest in the Accelerated BSN Program Continues to Grow

Applications to 14-month

program rise 7%; second

consecutive year of growth

Anyone hear?

Nothing yet. To keep ourselves distracted let's talk about something else. For one I wish schools would coordinate prerequisite requirements so that they are the same across the board - this would increase their number of applicants and make it easier for students to complete the requirements. Any of you applying to Umass Boston as well? I wish the application deadlines were closer together, although MGHIHP is my first choice...

Good idea.

I am applying to umass boston as well, I have not submitted my application yet. I didnt have that hard of a time with the pre-reqs being different yet, other than having to take growth and development for umass. Is this your first year applying?

Yes, first time around. How about you? I had applied to the MCPHS program in Worcester as well and their pre-reqs are a little different. I haven't applied to Umass Boston yet either, waiting for my transcripts to come in for two last classes I took this semester.

What is the cost of UMass Boston? Do instate students get a tuition break?

Two of my friends, were accepted at UMass Amherst accelerated this year and were surprised about the the tuition cost - there is no instate discount. The price falls under Continuing Professional Education - the nursing school estimates $ 35 to 40,000 for the 17 month program - NOT including room and board.

Last week MGHIHP stated that Jan 5 is the notification date for the accelerated BSN. Of course this is the same thing applicants heard last year and many were notified mid/late December.

I'm not sure what the cost is for the Umass Boston program. The tuition website is pretty complicated, but from what I gather it is significantly less expensive than the MGH program. How did you hear about the Jan. 5th notification date?
