MGH accelerated BSN 2010

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Anyone gotten an acceptance letter yet? If not when do you think the earliest that we'll hear?

Where did you find out about January 5th?

Also for umass accelerated, are you talking about the one that starts this summer? Are your friends their now or were they accepted for the class starting in 2010?

Re -notification date - call to MGH last week and asked about accelerated notification.

Referring to UMass accelerated at Amherst, not Boston with a start date of January 2010. One applied in April 2009 and was accepted early, the other applied 9/1/09, was notified in early Nov 09.

Thanks for the details! I think Umass Amherst is more expensive than Boston, though I may be wrong. I was disappointed to hear Amherst canceled its 2010 application cycle.

January 5 can't come soon enough.

I agree- I called MGH and was told the same thing. I have also been accepted to MCPHS Worcester- and I am likely going to apply to UMASS Worcester Graduate program along with Northeastern, if I don't hear back from MGH. Their deadlines are January 15th- so I will be cutting it close. Good Luck to every one who's applied. Can't wait for January 5th! As for UMASS Boston- they have Organic Chem as a prereq?

I don't think Umass Boston requires Chemistry at all as a pre-req. They request Nutrition and Lifespan Development in addition to the biologies.

I am also planning on applying to Umass Worcester for their graduate program - in case I don't get in to MGH or Umass Boston. I still have to take the GREs between now and January 15th, but it seems like it is not so pressing for them to get the scores in on time.

RE - UMASS BOSTON ACCELERATED

FYI from the UMass Boston Nursing Website

http://www.cnhs.umb.edu/nursing/programs/blended/Accelerated/accelerated1.html

- guess it makes a little tough for the non New England applicants.

Effective February 2, 2009 attendance to an Accelerated Nursing Option information session is required prior to submitting an application to the Accelerated Nursing Option.

I'm thinking of attending the information session on January 12th just to refresh some of the information should I be so lucky as to have a decision to make... I went to one last year and it was pretty informative.

Has anyone recently trying to access the online Umass Boston application? Once you fill out the first few fields and go to 'Proceed' it says the application deadline has passed... but the deadline is February 1st. I plan to print it out and do it manually.

The Umass Boston website states in their Fact Sheet for the accelerated program that the cost for the 2009 academic year for a MA resident the cost was $25,000. That's a lot less than the MGH program!

Just called MGH and was told notifications went out mid-week last week, so the Jan 5 target date sounds about right...I think we all should be receiving our letters this week. Yikes this is nervewracking!!!!!!!!!!

They were closed last week from what I saw? I tried to drop off a transcript and they were closed. So I don't know how they sent them out? I may be wrong.

Did anyone else get an email about financial aid options? They said they sent it to applicants? I wonder if that means accepted applicants?

I received an email today that letters would be sent out at the beginning of this week - so January 5 sounds just about right.

Regarding financial aid, I had sent in a form with my application. I haven't received an email about options. Good luck everyone!

I agree with the good luck! So crazy

My friend who is also anxiously waiting to hear, but I cannot get to post on this board, received 2 different emails today from MGH. One email was generic about all of the prereqs MGH offers (my friend has completed all the pre reqs!), and the other that all MGH ABSN applicants are eligible to apply for a merit scholarship with deadline to apply later this month.

Best of Luck to everyone.
