Hello All,
I was accepted to Merritt College's ADN program starting Fall/11 and wanted to know who else may be attending. Im really nervous about their program because of all the bad reviews. Is it just a matter of unhappy people are more likely to complain and there are people out there who are happy with the program? If anyone in the program has any advice id surely appreciate it. Thanks!
There is another problem here. We can't submit all papers on the BackGround profile. At least, I can't. It's not technically possible to submit some forms such as physical exam, acknowl. form and med history. I contact representatives of the site, they promised to fix the problem, but it still exist. I e-mailed to the school, they don't know anything about it and it looks like they don't want to know.
Thank you for the replies regarding the MMR titers!
CowhorseMom, rideshare and studying will be great. When we get closer to the semester starting, we can exchange info. I'm very motivated in succeeding in the program and have great study habits! I'm not at all a flaky person... This is my career so I'm taking it as serious as ever!!
Vlady,
thank you about the physical exam info, I had it and have paid $60 for it, it was the cheapest I found searching online, it was at Cal Works, I hope the school will accept any provider we choose! I have no records of any type of immunizations, so I will have the MMR and Varicilla vacines on the 27th of june, if we have to wait for at least 3 weeks after the vaccines to go for the titers, how long does the titers results take to come back? anyone knows?
For those who had positive titers, did it take two MMR vaccines to get the positive results?? I keep reading this info online, it says that one MMR vaccine is just a booster, it may not give a positive titer...the bad news is you have to wait one month between the two, then allow 4-8 weeks for the titer, if this is true then we will not be able to meet the due date...what will happen if this is the case? I started to really freak out after reading this info online...you can read the info here:

But did you do these vaccinations in your childhood?Didn't have any child infectious desease?
What do u mean when they come back? U mean how long u need to wait for the results? 1-2 days
ProudMom511,
I had blood drawn first to check my titers. The lab tests with Kaiser came back the next day, which told me that I was positive for all except measles. So, my dr. gave me one vaccine for MMR and I'll get re-tested for blood work titers in 30 days. I have record of having MMR when I was a child so I am praying that the shot I just received is considered the 2nd one. I have read all of the info online that you have read because I started freaking out too! Also, I need to have the Hep B series because my blood work showed that i do not have the antibodies required, in which the first two vaccines are due by Aug. 1, a d can only be given a month apart. My next one is due on July 17. This is also the date that I'm due for new MMR blood tests for measles titer. Hopefully I will test positive because I won't have time for another vaccine.
Don't freak out too much you guys. Just do your best to get everything done, if you run out of time it's not the end of the world. You will need to have everything done to go to clinicals, but that is 9 weeks after the semester bigins. If you end up not having everything they need they will pull you aside on the first day and let you know what you need. This happened to some of the students last year. I only know this is true for titers vaccines. But in any case do your best to get everything done by the deadline.
So for those of you who have felt slighted by the unresponsiveness of the nursing office, I went down there today to talk to them in person and learned that the whole office is out on vacation but will be back by mid july. I only wish they had left a message in their answering service or on their website.
SO on a new topic, has anyone else started on the text books yet? I am finding Potter a Perry to be pretty poorly written, anyone else notice that?
Vlady

I had a physical exam in Lanay college. I'm not sure if you, Proudmum, can do it. I was a Peralta student in spring. But you can ask. They do it for free as well as TB testing. They didn't ask me a student ID
