Merritt College ADN 2011

Published

Hello All,

I was accepted to Merritt College's ADN program starting Fall/11 and wanted to know who else may be attending. Im really nervous about their program because of all the bad reviews. Is it just a matter of unhappy people are more likely to complain and there are people out there who are happy with the program? If anyone in the program has any advice id surely appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi,

Congratulations to you! I will be attending the Merritt's nursing program of fall 2011, I care less about the bad comments! I am determined to make it happen! Not 100% of the students drop out of their program, you can be one of them with the hard work. I am just thankful that I don't have to wait for another year and go through the hassle of applying again...

Congratulations to you too!! :-) Dont get me wrong, I am definitely excited about starting the nursing program at Merritt and I'm going to give it my all. I feel very blessed that I got into a program on my first attempt and Merritt is literally around the corner from my house! I'm just trying to get a feel for what's to come.

congrats to you both! i have been accepted for fall '11 as well!

it's all falling into place now... 11 days until orientation ... 86 days until semester starts ... and in two grueling years we'll be rns! i am ecstatic!!

the negative comments do excite the butterflies in my tummy, however, i feel like @dreamnurse511 said, give it your all and work hard!!!

i have been applying for rn programs for three years, which includes having to repeat some courses (because they were taken more than 5-years before that entering semester!) it's been only struggling and tribulations and i am so grateful to have grown as a student because of it..hopefully translating into the nursing student/nurse i will become!

wish you all the best of luck and see you soon!!

I just don't want some comments to ruin the moment for you, I know that you're excited and that you will give it everything in you!

You're lucky that you don't have to commute for the school, I will have to either move closer to school or commute the 35-40 mins everyday, I will make the decision eventually.

I have about the same commute dreamnurse511, where do you live?

I live in Fremont.

I am on the other side of that 30-40 minute drive... I live near vallejo. ;)

congratulations! i got in as well. i am still considering between merced college though, and i cant find a thread reviewing merced!

im scared from what ive heard from merritt though haha

Congratulations to you all!! I, too, was accepted to Merritt starting this fall. I am so excited but also very nervous about the critical remarks I've read here about the program. Does anyone know someone currently in nursing at Merritt? Or are there current students perusing this thread who can comment? I'll see some of you at the orientation, I'm excited to get this ball rolling!

I've been accepted as well. I have to say, that orientation was not any help in making me want to attend. the staff seems abrasive and disorganized and if those were the best students they could find to represent the school, i'm worried. Anyone else feel this way? Ratemyprofessor.com reviews are pretty discouraging as well. Normally I wouldn't consider going at all based on the many red flags, but the thought of applying to other programs, waiting a year, potentially having to move out of state and gain some major debt, has me on the fence.
