Hello All,

I was accepted to Merritt College's ADN program starting Fall/11 and wanted to know who else may be attending. Im really nervous about their program because of all the bad reviews. Is it just a matter of unhappy people are more likely to complain and there are people out there who are happy with the program? If anyone in the program has any advice id surely appreciate it. I also have the same issue. I have registered with the website to do the background check, they will send us an email telling us where to go for the drug test, but I don't see the forms to be completed for the physical exam and the immunizations so I emailed the school this afternoon...weekend is coming up, I should hear from them on Monday, I will let you know what they say...

For immunization u don't need forms. When you will be done with them you can scan papers and submit for the sait. I think so. You can see there-attach file

The school responded, here is what they say: ALL FORMS ARE AVAILABLE ONLINE AT THE CERTIFIED BACKGROUND WEBSITE.

They sent me the same replay. But I don't see any form on-line. What do u think? I thought that maybe they show up later. I read smth that backcheck should be done first

I try to login to certifiedbackground.com to check for the forms, but it wont let me in even though I enter the correct information...were you able to login? or do we have to wait for some time for the registration to be confirmed?

I registered for the CPR class with American Heart Association, I think they only offer the class at San Francisco.

Try from here https://www.certifiedprofile.com/certify It worked. They have classes not only in SF. Where do u live? I live in Berkeley, so I found the classes here as well in SF, Oakland, Alameda. I think we should wait till Monday at least, because the registration isn't completed yet. Probably,smth will change on Mon

Thank you, it worked, I was able to login, but I am still confused about the forms:confused: When I click on them, it asks me to upload the file provided by our school, the school is saying that the file is there:confused: What should we do:confused:

I know. I came across the same thing. I think we should wait Mon. maybe this sait will send some info about drug test, they promised to do it in 24-48 h. Also there is a number of support service. we can call there. As far as I found out, the background check should be completed and then we will be able to attach documents. It's usually done in 3-5 bus days. Let's wait. Have u had already vaccinations?

No, no vaccinations yet, I will call on monday to schedule a physical exam as well as immunizatios, TB test. What about you?

im a second year student at merritt

I have had all the same concerns about all of the negativity. At this point I just want to say that I like this program. I like it because it forces me to do everything on my own, I feel more accomplished and better prepared because I put in all the hard work and I wasn't hand held. Ofcourse people who have had bad experiences will come out on the internet and blast the school, those who have positive experiences don't feel the need to blog about it but continue about their lives. Yes we lost a lot of people, yes it's very tough, but it IS DOABLE!! I beleive in team work, sharing information with your peers, the teachers have a wealth of experience. They are charge nurses, over 30 years of critical care experience. They are not unreasonable in what they ask of us, as they are trying to make us great nurses in a short time.

My advice: Figure out your finances now!! Dedicate your life for the first 6 months, get the hang of it, how you will study, prepare yourself, if the program is for you, and MOST importantly, if nursing is the right career for you.

Pleaese keep in mind that many people we have lost, left on their own accord, whetehr they were unhappy in this style of teaching, of they realized nursing is not for them

good luck, and study hard, highlight, hand hygiene, and patient safety!! we are the last defense before the patient receives treatment, their lives are in our hands!! they should be hard on us and expect a lot!!

I have a question for you, craizy man. What kind of schedule did u have during the first semester?They told us that we would be there on campus from 8-30 till 5. I can't understand what to do there, if there is only 9 units fundamentals and 1 calculation. Also I read that laboratory usually works only 2 h a day. Is it right? Could u ,please, clarify it.It's important for me. Thank u
