Merritt College ADN 2011

U.S.A. California

Hello All,

I was accepted to Merritt College's ADN program starting Fall/11 and wanted to know who else may be attending. Im really nervous about their program because of all the bad reviews. Is it just a matter of unhappy people are more likely to complain and there are people out there who are happy with the program? If anyone in the program has any advice id surely appreciate it. Thanks!

I think that we need all the forms listed. For those of you who have registered on friday and have not yet receive the email about the drug test, you need to call them and let them know, they will email you the info.

This is for those of you who were in the program before: Is taking the summer course (Nursing 100) critical to our success in the program? Which do you recommend, taking this course OR using the time we have left for reading the textbooks (Fundamentals of nursing & drug dosage calculations). I can't really decide, but I am leaning more towards just reading the textbooks. Your advice is appreciated!:redbeathe

I think it depends on what your stronger on. If like me you are weak at math you might want to take it over the summer. But I will say that I was the only student who failed the math portion that I know of. Most people failed fundamentals, even those who took math over the summer. It really depends on you, and what your strengths and weaknesses are.

Agelinayum,

Thank you for the reply, but I did not get it, so what does Nursing 100 cover? did you take this course before the start of the program? if so, what do they teach you to help during the program?

Those who have downloaded forms from the Certified Profile website, can you tell me which forms exactly you downloaded? I am still confused whether we are supposed to use the green medical history forms we got at orientation or if there are different forms from the Certified Profile website that we're supposed to use.

The green form is the same as you downloaded from the website.I think it doesn't matter what form you will submit. But How to submit these forms? I can't see how to do it. By the way, who knows what to do with CPR? It's not among the requirements on the website, but it's on the list of the school requirements

Proudmom

The only course I know of that they offer over the summer is calculations. They used to offer another prep course but I heard they stopped offering it. That was of last year if you heard otherwise at orientation I would go with that information. I did not take calculations because I was an alternate and that option was not available to me.

Also TO ALL:

If anyone is interested in meeting before the start of the semester, I will bring last years reading list. I have various study guides and practice questions from last year that I am willing to share. Let me know if anybody is interested and we'll go from there

I'm interested. Thank u.

Agelinayum,

Thanks again, they are not offering the calculation course this summer, they are offering the prep-course. It is a 4 unit course (online), they will meet on june 20th for an orientation about the course. I really can't decide on which idea is best: taking this course or just spend the time reading. I am interested in meeting with you as well, it is nice of you to share study materials, where do you live?

Hi Proudmom, How are u doing with paper work? I still can't find out what to do with medical papers as well as CPR. The shool replayed that everything is on-line, but it's not

Vlady,

The school says its there but it is not, I called the site 888-666-7788, tell them the case, they will email you the forms immediately, also if you have not received the drug test email from them, ask about that as well, they will email it to you immediately. download the forms and fill them out, see the ones needed to be signed by your health care provider. once all forms are ready, scan them to your computer, then upload them to the site.

As for the CPR, I think that we need to show it when school starts. hope this helps!

I live in Alameda. For the CPR card, last year we had to copy it front and back and hand it in by the deadline. I would definitely go to the prep- course. It seems like it would be complementary to reading ahead rather then one verses the other. Although I can't say much about how beneficial I think it would be as I've never attended it, but it can't hurt.

I will be there for the orientation on the 20th as well, it will meet in forum C @ 9 AM. if too many students show up, they will move to building P, room 307. see you there.

Agelinayum, how do I recognize you, give me a hint.
