Personally would not recommend that school..... Not worth your time and money..... the following link could give you a good idea of the type of people they are..... and not to mention why they are really not accredited.....

i go to Merit. they ARE money hungry and they are also DISORGANIZED. please save yourself the grief and save your money!! they claim to be the cheapest LPN school in NJ. but you will end up paying much more, trust me. they do everything in their power to make it impossible to pass!! the class before me 7 on them made it thru the whole prog without failing ANY classes. 7 out of about 40ish students. please do not go to this school

how far along are you into this programm? I just started actually I am having mix feelings but haven't taking any test yet. So far my thoughts are if one's willing, like the 7s we shall succeed :-P Although 7 out of 40 is crazy though... Hope to hear from you soon!!

hey there.. i went as far as psych.. didnt make it to MS1&MS2, i had to repeat maternity/peds.. and unfortunately did not pass by 2 points, now i neeed to start back at pharm.. which would be this coming december.. but i am still unsure to continue. im glad u are feeling good about the school.. just make sure u buy extra nclex books for the finals. a&p is easy.. pharm and on is tough. nclex books, cds r the key! i learned the hard way! good luck

Thanks man! wow yo made it that far n u have to repeat from there!?! Who did you have as far the teacher? this teach we have is ok in his methods but man... the language barrier is so tough to ignore...

yess, their policy is fail 3x and u are back at pharm. unfortunately Maternity/Peds got the best of me.. and i failed by 3 points.. its very discouraging thats why i am still debating on going back or not. our A&P teacher was Obuteh, im pretty sure he is still teachin a&p. trust me, the language barrier for me was very tough also but u will get used to it. he is also prob the BEST teacher u will have in that school. he seems hard (which he is) but he means well and he does everything in his power to help students. :)

Hi everyone, for those who have already taken classes at Merit Institute or have completed their LPN program, i would like to get some info about their classes and what to get ready for. I got accepted to this school and i'm very nervous because i don't what to expect. Any info would greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

hi you believe you mention that you going to merit right, i would like to know about what kind of loan they offer, is it private or federal, what is the interest rate and what do you need to qualify for it, do you need a good credit score or .... thank you im thinking on applying there for fall 2010.

Merit is not accredited, therefore they do not qualify for Federal Loans. MERIT is a TRULY hungry for money school! I got accepted there, (attended orientation and everything) but choose not to attend. U pretty much need about $2,000 by orientation (which is a week or less before classes actually start). U need another $1,500 Before midterms of ur first module, which includes 1 week of medical terminology and 3-4 weeks of A&P. U have to pay I think about $4,500 before u can apply to their private "loan" (which is really not a loan because u still have to pay about $500 a month. Also u MUST pay off ur remanding balance/ loan BEFORE u sit for the exit exam or else they wont let u graduate). I also had a co-worker who was well into the program when I went for orientation. She, along with other students, warned me not to go to Merit. Mysteriously, EVERYONE in her class had failed Med Surge and the students believed it was a way for the School to make more money off of the students by having them pay to repeat the class.

wow, i have a aunt that graduated from there last year and she said its not the best school to attend, but if you really know what you want and work hard, do study group and go to tutoring outside of the school you can make it, she is doing her bachelor in nursing now, merrit is not my first option right now but its one of them, most private nursing school are unorganize but at the same time when you think about it merit its not that expensive compare to other school like lincoln tech and when you do graduate you will be making twice as much when you want something you go for it, anyway thanks for the info.

i paid my $500 for my admission fee to merit lpn program now i found out the school is not accredited ii newjersey nor newyork whay am i goin 2 do. i want my money back i work hard for mine:mad:
