  1. I am in NY I have applied through indeed, career builder and i havent gotten much of a response other than the auto response simply hired i get email from them so i must have applied for them before.. smh i know what it sounds like but i go through so many applications a day and the live person call backs i get back such as Bayada or White Glove Care require one yr experience.. o n of course flooded with Aflac responses.. smh lol I am currently readjusting my filters on those sites such as career builder in the hopes of filtering out all those unwanted aflac ads..
  2. Thanks again I will look into it further n let you know of what my progress has been. I pushed for it because my understanding is that i would have been under direction of RN regardless of how experienced i was. But you have a point I will keep applying for other agencies til i land one that will give me a chance to prove myself. typical "all asking for experience but none willing to give a shot at getting it in the first place" Thanks for your sound advice by the way much appreciated believe me
  3. Hey were you referring to Montefiore? if so they are 1199? thanks a million! I applied regardless though :-) Any other location you know of that hires in the NY area (queens, BK, manhattan, bronx?)
  4. Hey... Let me just start by saying i just love your Handle lol! Breaks the ice in many respects "keeping it real" ..smh lol Thanks for taking the time to write back I appreaciate this site even more now. Those 6-12 shifts sounds very good and those cases you have just described sound that much better. I am eager to throw myself n worry about being nervous later type attitude. It would be great if you could point me towards the right direction as far as those peds cases are concern great experience! Not to mention I have been looking into registering with EmedNY and part of qualifying for increase pay is having a background in fragile peds cases!! My goal is to become a CRNA n my understanding i will need acute care experience as an RN for at least 2yrs before qualifying for a program.. as a result thats why I figured i would seek out a lpn-ASN from which i will pursue the RN-BSN program while accruing the background in acute care.. It starts with a plan I guess but i am encountering a few hurtles along the way such as lack of employment opportunity as an lpn as i mentioned before n also the change in the market for ASN RNs not being able to work in hospitals as much..(there goes my hopes for acute setting) etc.. But one thing at a time n i would be very interested in securing those peds u spoke of.. I have my sights at the VA Hospital now for interview since i expect to grow from within.. Thanks again :-)
  5. Hello Deekay, I am a new LPN and have been looking into PDN through EmedNY.. given the dates on this thread i take it you must be quite the veteran; I was hoping for some insights: How was the experience in PDN and were you able to sustain yourself solely on those cases as originally intended? Any directions/Advice that would help guide me through the process would be greatly appreciated :-)
  6. Hello friends! Recently Licensed Practical Nurse hoping to secure an 1199 position in NY. I heard the benefits are great especially in healthcare and school assistance that extends to family even! any advice towards securing a position and at which hospital/nursing home as a new lpn would be greatly appreciated.
  7. Hello fellow veteran Nurses! Just took my boards and made it Thank You JeSuS! lol I just found out about Private Duty Nursing(PVD) and understand as a LPN I can start getting cases! I need help steering me in the right direction please! My progress so far is I applied for NPi# in order to complete an application for http://wWw.EmedNY.org from which I understand they will assign me a care provider# which will in turn qualify me to get paid from medicaid health insurance subscribers (Please correct me if I am wrong) Questions: -How much can an LPN make from PDN in NY cases? -I have read somewhere that some LPNs get 23/hr from EmedNY.org , my understanding of going through this process of registering is to potentially cut out the middle man and starting ur own business.. sort of.. some agencies could pay up to 31/hr to compete with full time nursing homes.. could that 23/hr quote b wrong? -Are there other insurance providers besides Medicaid/Medicare(i.e. blue cross, blue shield, Aetna, etc..); How do i apply for them? -Is there any additional certification that i could take that would potentially increase my income potential as a registered care provider? I would like to thank you guys in advance for any help
  8. Hello everyone! I thought i would never see that light at the end of that tunnel but I made thank goodness. Throughout lpn nursing school i did my best to network and great networking i did without fail. It seems like I had a lot of jobs all lined up right before taking my boards but now that I made it they all disappeared lol! I am really seeking out my options as an LPN. while looking for jobs in NY I have been looking into certifications that would help boost my career and give me that extra edge at an interview; any advice? I am looking to take a phlebotomy class despite my new licensure and already seeking out lpn-rn programs for fall semester; but i need someone to guide me through the best career path possible. Thank you guys
  9. Thanks man! wow yo made it that far n u have to repeat from there!?! Who did you have as far the teacher? this teach we have is ok in his methods but man... the language barrier is so tough to ignore...
  10. Hey lpncp15, how far along are you into this programm? I just started actually I am having mix feelings but haven't taking any test yet. So far my thoughts are if one's willing, like the 7s we shall succeed :-P Although 7 out of 40 is crazy though... Hope to hear from you soon!!
  11. Kudos to you ExtraOrdinaire, Thats what i am working on too. Thats the bigger picture
  12. Thanks for such a prompt response Melhun, Like few posted before Nursing is a very competitive field, as a result, their waiting list are usually very long to get accepted. Thats provided you had a good GPA from your previous school. Merit presented me to train towards getting my license and get things started. I am still looking into FA and i will let you know what i come up w/. As a teacher what school would you then recommend for someone in need like me? Poor experience that you were referring to, was that w/ Merit are other technical school like LT? If I can get my feet wet just w/ a license and the proper experience from that school (wouldn't want to waste my time you know). If Clinical is going to be a problem, is there a a hospital where one might volunteer in possibly? what are the requirements to volunteer at a hospital? Thanks a million
  13. Hey im glad to hear that everything worked out well enough for you to come back to accomplish your gas through Merit. I will be starting soon w/ them. I have some financial concerns. were they able to offer you FA? They were able to let you go in the middle of the program to finally come back?! are they really that flexible?
  14. Hey whats up Annud, I take it you mnade it to the program :-) Congrats! Did they give you any FA for the program or you're really out of pocket?
  15. Hey how did it work out for you? Hows Merit? are the teachers good?
