Mercy Hospital (Miami) LPN-RN

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone,

I'm looking into bridging into this program and wanted to know if there are any students out there (current or former) that would be able to provide information for this program. Such as quality of program, difficulty getting in, etc.... I do know that they are now accredited by ACEN. Any information would be great.

Thank you

So ladies, I just called the school . They said everyone should receive an email by a Tuesday of next week informing them of acceptance or not for the August program

Hi,

I also applied for the August cohort and turned in my paperwork back in May. I have been a nervous wreck waiting for an email. I called yesterday and was told there was a delay and it should be within 2 weeks. Thank you for this update. Best of luck to you all.

Mercy is my solid plan haven't thought of a plan b?

Hello all! I was wondering if anyone could confirm for me the gpa requirements for the LPN-RN bridge program?

Is it true they're getting rid of the bridge program? I'm currently in my LPN program and wanted to start at Mercy when I finish.

Hey there Staysassy! Welcome.

Not sure what GPA is required exactly, but I’d say 2.5 GPA and up should be good enough. Yes, we were told in an information session that after the August LPN-RN cohort they will not be having another LPN-RN program. BUT they will have a generic nursing program for those with NO COLLEGE CREDITS. Feel free to call them to get more information in regards to that.

Ok so I called them this morning to find out what's what. Apparently they've gotten a bunch of calls about this! The guy I spoke to (I didn't catch his name) was like "let's dispel these rumors lol"

What I was told was that they are dissolving the LPN program and offering a generic AND an accelerated RN program instead. I expressed my concerns to him because I will be sitting for my NCLEX-PN next year and wanted to bridge at Mercy soon after.

He told me that with my LPN license, I could start their RN program and finish within a year.

I will be sleeping a lot better now! I was super concerned because everyone tries to go to MDC (at least for their generic ASN and their accelerated options) and it's very difficult to get into their programs. I'm not sure if the competition for the LPN-RN bridge is steep there but I would imagine that it is since it's the only affordable option in Miami aside from Mercy.

I am hoping with these changes being made at Mercy that their financial aid options change along with it because if I can use FAFSA money to bridge there, I'd have it made.

Hi @staysassy this is great! Thank you for sharing. I hope that the changes work in your favor.

@MayaFutureRN I’m sorry to hear . But you never know. Someone may end up NOT paying their tuition money and you’d expect up next !!

And yes @AshleySmith I got the good news ! So we’ll be together upcoming August . Super nervous and excited !!!

@MayaFutureRN sorry to hear, I deferred in may so it’s possible someone will not pay or decide not to go so there is still a chance. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

@Ankadizzle Yes I’ll see you in August. I’m going Thursday to get a new drug screen form since I need to redo it. Luckily I got my uniforms and books already so it’s just that and I’m set.

Anyone know how the schedule is for the second and third semester for the bridge program? Trying to get an idea.
