mercy hospital bakersfield, summer 2011 versant program.

Published

Just wanted to start this thread for those who want to discuss the versant program for summer. Has anyone heard from them. I got a call about going further in the interview process.

I applied March 17. :( Still have not heard anything from them yet and my applications still say Under Review.

Got a call from one of the recruiters "Brad". He had me do a couple of assessments online and scheduled me for an interview on the 15th. According to him, there is going be around 27 open positions between the 2 hospitals. My preference is med-surg, and he stated there will be about 10 positions there, 4 in ICU and I think 5 in the ER.

i got the same call, and i went for med-surg also, and 2 other units. i just finished my assessments a couple minutes ago. did he call you again about scheduling an interview, or did you have to call him to say you already completed them and then schedule the interview?

I had my interview yesterday. Seemed like it went well. It was my very first nursing interview so my nerves were out of control as expected! They told me that they are making their final choices within 2 weeks and I will hear from them either way. So at least they won't leave us wondering!

Does anyone know what the contract is about? As far as how long, penalties for breaking, etc.? I am curious because I've heard horror stories about Versant programs with outrageous 5+ year contracts.

Good luck to everyone!

I applied the Friday before the applications were due. My status still says "HR review."

Do any of you live in or near Bakersfield? It's about a 3-4 hour drive from where I live.

Yes, I do. I was planning on leaving but I need a job! So if I get one of the Versant programs here (with my area of preference) then I will stay... We'll see... :nurse:

do you remember what kinds of questions they asked you? how long was your interview? and are the managers pleasant? sorry, so many questions, lol! i've had an interview for another Versant program in Lakewood, so if they asked you similar questions, then i have a better idea of what to expect.

They asked a lot of questions about prioritizing patients. The interview was about an hour long. The managers were awesome! They were making jokes and laughing when I first went in and it really helped to lighten the mood. They told me they were there to get to know the versant candidates and not intimidate or scare them... and they did just that. It felt more like a conversation than a formal interview.

After I finished the assessmend (moderator edit of name) called me back to setup the interview. If you haven't heard from him I would call him back though. I mean it can't hurt, right? Just let him know you finished and are following up with him.

What areas did you apply for? I only applied to ER and ICU.

Good luck to you! Maybe we'll be working together :yeah:

awesome, i feel less stressed about it now. :D thanks. i called (moderator edit of name) back about the assessments and he told me to wait for (moderator edit of name)'s call (the head of HR) for setting up an interview. i remember applying for med-surg, and 2 other units i forgot.

am I only the one? My application still says HR Review and I have not received any calls for an assessment. Starting to get discouraged again.
