Mercy Gilbert Medical Center

Published

HI..new grad moving to AZ, interested in working at Mercy Gilbert, heard its opening spring 2006, anyone interview here yet? Just curious about any info!

Well great minds must think alike because I thought how great it would be working at Gilbert Mercy. I like the idea that it is new and you can grow with the hospital and that it is not a giant hospital. I am sure it will be worked to the bones because their is such a need for a hospital in the east valley esp Gilbert/Queen Creek which is great because I like to stay busy. I looked at the website and noticed that is associated with Chandler Regional. So, I guess I have a question for Chandler Regional nurses...how do you like working there and do you think things are run well?

I live at the Power Ranch community and I am currently going to Rio Salado and doing all my preqs for the RN program. I will finish all the preqs by Fall 2006. Anyhow, I wish Rio would use Gilbert Mercy for clinicals, I hate how we have to drive all the way into Phoenix for clinicals. I noticed a lot of post with people living around here and here is a "Hi" for ya.

For anyone whose gone through the interviews with Gilbert Mercy and will be working there gives us all the details and your thoughts!

Thanks

Awesome! I'm also doing my pre-reqs through Rio and on val vista and queen creek here. Had to start with BIO 156, but hopefully I can get to the meat of things soon enough to apply there. How awesome would it be to live a mile from where you work?? :)

I'm at Lindsay and RAy, not too far away from Mercy. Have you heard about the Glendale weekend program? Rio is a great alternative for people working, but if you want or need an instructor to fill in the blanks then Glendale has a Fri/Sat program. It's great! I'm in it right now. It's 24 months, and you don't get your summers off (but you get something like three weeks off). It's a nice program for working people. It sound like a long drive, but it's really not that bad. Out of 30 people in my class there's four of us from Gilbert. We all carpool which makes it a lot easier (we get to ride in the carpool lane, :chuckle )

Good luck with your pre-req's, it really does go fast.

Hey there, I am right down on Pecos and McQueen. I was wondering when Mercy, was going to open. I am startin my pre reqs in July at cgcc. I can't wait. I will be going full time when the fall comes around. I am very lucky to have a husband that has an awesome job and I am able to do that, especially with 5 kids four still living at home.

Anyway, great info. I would like to work at Mercy or Chandler Regional. Once I get through school. lol

Nice to see people in my own community doing the same thing I am.

Hey neighbors.

I just wanted to give those of you JUST starting your pre-req's that there's a program through Maricopa Skills Center (and another place as well) where you can earn your LPN and get your pre-req's done at the same time. Then all you have to do is apply for admittance into Blk III of the nursing program (a lot less wait time). This could cut off possibly a year or more of your school time (remember, with all the pre-req's etc, it could take 4 years to get your ADN). I didn't go through this program but some of the ladies on here did so you may want to post a thread asking for more details. I just wish I'd known about this before I started, I'd be done already!!!

Hello Neighbors. I'm at VV & Warner and in Block II at Gateway. I've been thinking about the new Banner Gateway hospital thats going in at Higley and the 60. It's due to open in fall of 2007 which is just a few months after my graduation. Good luck to you all.

Specializes in NICU.

I agree, it's gonna be a nice hospital ..... I think it'll be the next Desert Sam too, probably even the ER, just give it time!

I didn't go to nursing school in the valley, but I did take some prereqs through Rio, online. They have an awesome online program ..... all the classes I took online were great. Great instructors, great classes, great setup, everything went very well.

Well I guess my other post got lost in webspace. Anyway, I"ve heard that a lot of the people that are going to be working at Mercy when it opens, are working at Chandler Regional right now. They did have a big job fair a couple of months ago and I'm assuming that's when they hired people. What's funny is I called HR this morning for a totally unrelated question and found out that they hire externs after block I. I thought most places didn't hire until at least BLK III or so, so this would work out great for me. The lady in HR also seemed very accommodating, I'm interested in perioperative and she didn't think it would be a problem working as an extern in the OR and then just staying in it as an RN when I graduate. Good thing is it's only 2-3 miles from my house and only surface streets

St. Joes also hires externs after block 1. I tried to go for it, but ended up making more as an LPN so I didn't take it. But, worth a try if you want an externship!

THe other one is the skill center at Estrella. I just got done with it and got my LPN. I will start block III in the fall. Having the summer off will be NICE! No school, just work and experience in the field. I'm hoping to enjoy it.

Do you get college credit that is transferable for blocks I & II if you go to one of the skill centers?

Bumping this thread to ask --- anyone now work at Mercy Gilbert? What do you think of it?

(not asking for myself, but for someone else who's interested in working there as an RN in med/surg)
