Mercy College ABSN 19 NY

Updated:   Published

Hi I'm creating a group for all the people who got accepted to Mercy ABSN fall 2019 in ny . It's a new program which also help out transfer CNR student finish there degree and I hope we could shared our thoughts for other incoming students. I was called around July 9th and told I was accepted and waiting for my officially letter package in the mail. I'm excited and nervous at the same time.

HI I hope all is well for everyone. As one of the first batch of students to start the Accelerated program its been OK. I do agree they have had many hiccups down the line with the transition of CNR staff, school fees and now Covid 19. For those who are working fulltime it is slightly do able especially if you work night shift. Whether you work at a hospital, or retail you might want to work part time so you will have time to study, sleep, and destress. Nursing school is not just about passing classes it about understanding the concepts , critical thinking so you can pass the NCLEX on first try. I live in brooklyn and the travel was about 1h45 min via train to campus. When it comes classes that finish in the afternoon theres traffic after 5 and there almost something wrong on the trains. It best to car pool or drive sometimes. As far for covid I believe they are trying to do a hybrid program where you can opt to attend school online vs class but nothing hasn't been set in stone yet. They try to update student every 2 weeks with zoom meeting but it hard when you not in person.

CONGRATS. overall the program is good, theres issues with administration but most of the professors are amazing. just stay on top of your studies and you will do fine and will learn a lot. we didn't do in person clinicals this semester but clinicals can be anywhere in nyc. I live in brooklyn too & will be commuting once we are in person. if moving has more pros than cons for you then I guess you can move closer but I don't think its absolutely necessary. but do what works best for u

Hi Chelsea,

Thank you so much for your response. May I know how long is your commute? Still debating my best option is consider the workload. My commute from Brooklyn by transit is around 2 hour and 1 hour driving.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much for the input!

Hello everybody,

I am currently on the fence about attending Mercy, and this thread has been very helpful in my decision. I just had a couple questions. What are the exact clinical sites? I know there are some in Manhattan, the Bronx, LI, Westchester, but which hospitals/facilities will they be at exactly? How is the organization of the program? What is the NCLEX pass rate? Any mental health resources?

Thank you!

Hi!

Can someone that is already in the program tell me how much the tuition is for the accelerated program? I tried looking on the website but it was kinda confusing.

TIA!!

Hi everyone! Just out of curiosity, what items do we need to purchase for our nursing bag? If someone can provide a list, I would greatly appreciate it!

the only items we had to purchase were a stethoscope & nursing watch. then we ordered our skills bag (free of charge) from a website that the school provided. the skills bag has things you need for your fundamentals lab skills such as ostomy care, medication administration, PPE, urinary catheters, etc. you will probably hear more about that during your orientation.

tuition for this past semester was $9789. registration fee - $400, nursing fees - $1500. grand total - $11,689. & I believe tuition went up a bit for fall. but I haven’t looked at it.
