Memorial Hermann New Grad Residency Fall 2017

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hey everyone! Just wanted to start a thread for applicants for the fall 2017 cohort applicants!

From personal experience, I know how disappointing it is not to be given an offer. Don't dwell on it. Just keep putting in application whenever they pop up. Wishing y'all the best.

Would you mind explaining how your interview went. What you said etc? At a total loss of what they were looking for

I agree! Don't dwell on being rejected from a certain position/ hospital. I'll be honest I've been looking for about 6 months now and I've been told by friends that are nurses this is not uncommon. I was so upset for a while and disappointed in myself. I started to become discouraged for a while but I pushed myself and used every interview as a learning experience. It's not that I'm not qualified...I graduated top of my class, higher end GPA, and prior healthcare experience. They are looking for a candidate that is flexible, confident, willing to learn, ready to work, and someone they feel is worth investing in and wants to stick with that organization (especially even the unit you are interviewing for). When you go into these interviews be true to you, don't feed them the generic answers that everyone uses...if you feel that your weakness is time management then be honest with them but tell them how you are working on it and over coming that obstacle. Don't hesitate on questions or take a long time answering one question. If they ask you about a certain experience you've had in school or a job and you have never experienced it, then tell them that but also say what you would do in that situation if it were to happen to you. Be confident when you walk in there! This isn't your only chance of getting a job. You will get a job and you will succeed, it's all about timing. Also it helps to have questions ready to ask them...kinda like you are asking them why you should work there (but don't flat out ask that lol). In my last interview I asked the manager whar motivated her to stay with this organization, and she loved it...she spent a lot of time explaining and allowed us to connect. Best of luck!

Honestly, I didn't leave Match Day feeling confident but I prayed for the best. I don't know what made me stand out from the other people who interviewed, but I tried to remain calm and confident through the entire process. I smiled a lot and asked a ton of questions at the end. What made you choose this specialty? What do new grads struggle with the most and, what do you think they can do to overcoming it? What do you enjoy most about working for the Mermorial Hermann system? Questions like that. I wish I could be more helpful. RN_bsnTX gave some awesome advice above.

Does anyone happen to know the start date of the residency?

Does anyone happen to know the start date of the residency?

At prematch day, I was told it starts in October for Women's Services. I'm still waiting on the recruiter to call with details and an official offer letter.

Thank you! I received the official letter but they didn't tell me our start date or anything.

Did anyone shadow and hear back from the unit applied to at Northeast?

Thank you! I received the official letter but they didn't tell me our start date or anything.

Really? I still haven't received mine official letter, just a phone call. Maybe I should contact the recruiter. Who was yours? How long ago did you get your letter?

I got a call on Monday. She said they were behind in contacting people, but I would contact them, doesn't hurt to call.

Ok, thank you! Since they are behind, I will wait until next week to contact them. If I get an exact start date, I'll post it here for you.

I shadowed two units and still haven't heard back or received an email.
