Meeting AHPRA requirements as a International Trained Nurse from the Philippines

Published

Hi everyone! It's been a while. I am posting in behalf of my girlfriend who is gathering the necessary requirements for AHPRA. I wanted to ask if does AHPRA strictly enforces that the purpose written in the transcript of records should be either "for AHPRA Application purposes only" or "For Reference Purposes Only?"

And are they strict as well when it comes to the statement "WORKING FULL TIME" in the Certifcate of Employment? My GFs COE indicates that she is WORKING 40 HRS PER WEEK but the "WORKING FULL TIME" is missing.

She is having trouble with these documents mentioned because her previous employer in the Philippines, and Her University as well has not followed the instructions that we indicated and omitted the said statement for her COE, and mentioned a different purpose for her transcript of records (FOR ACADEMIC CREDIT EVALUATION PURPOSES.) not to mention that she is only asking friends to take care of such documents as she works in the middle east and its a bit difficult to ask them to request another set of the said requirements as per their availability to do the said process again, and we're hoping that what's been done will suffice.

hoping for anyone's kind reply, thank you.

hi. i just want to ask several questions.

1. How long did you guys received your LOE from AHPRA?

2. How will you know that AHPRA was able to receive your application?

I lodged my application last May 28. Since then I have not received any email from AHPRA if they were able to receive my application.

3. Is it true that there will be changes on the BRIDGING PROGRAM this July, that it will be 4 months or six months instead of 3 months and will be utilizing student visas with working rights?

4. What school or institution located in Sydney can you recommend for the BRIDGING PROGRAM?

thank you :)

1. As long as the certified/notarized TOR shows that the person has completed the course and has been granted the degree there should be no problem. The other notations would not really matter.

2. The basic AHPRA requirement is 450 hours of paid work experience. At 40 hours per week the 450 hours has been complied in just about 12 weeks.

The FULL TIME WORK notation is more of an issue with ANMAC rather than AHPRA because they do the skills assessment for migration purposes.

1. According to AHPRA website:

If your application is considered complete

Your application for registration is complete if AHPRA has received all the information required to complete an assessment. Refer to the relevant section of The Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act 2009 (1.26 MB, PDF) (the National Law). The standard timeframe for the assessment of a complete application is:

Up to 10 days for graduate applications***

Up to 10 days for provisional to general applications

Up to 10 days for specialist applications (where general is already held)

Up to 4-6 weeks for all other application types. However, complex applications, including those from overseas, may take more time.

On the average, this takes about 2-4 months for those from the Philippines.

2. Normally, they don't inform the applicant that the application has been received. A registration officer will only get in touch with you if there are documents lacking and around the time that the officer will forward your application to the Board (NMBA).

3. This has been the subject of much speculation since last year. Some schools like Deakin, if I am not mistaken has already been offering six month BP program thus necessitating a student visa, however many are still on the three-month course until the end of this year. I have not checked the schools' individual websites as to their programs for next year (2019).

4. A check of AHPRA website shows that in Sydney only ACN is allowed to offer bridging program

Hi can someone please explain on what to do next about this email from ahpra. thanks

Timeframe on application for general registration

Under section 85 of the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law, the board has 90 days in which to decide on an application. If a decision is not made in this time the application is taken to be refused, therefore the Board must decide your application by august 6.

Given that, we propose to extend this date until november 6.

If you agree to this extension please advise us in writing by july 16.

This implies that the registration office has gone over your application but may not be able to submit a recommendation to the Board before the allotted time frame as such the proposal to extend the process.

Just answer that you agree.

Normally it won't go that far... in about a month or less, they can make the decision as long as all required documents are in order.

The way I read that is they arent ready to make a decision by the actual date so they want to extend the date to consider your application.

Could be wrong though

Good day, fellow nurses!May I ask if it's OK to request the school to directly send documents to the registration officer thru email?Would it be OK with AHPRA or with the RO? I only have until July 19 to submit my documents however, I'm afraid my papers won't arrive on time to the AHPRA office that's why I was thinking that maybe I'll request the school to send the scanned copy of the documents first before sending thru courier.

Hoping for anyone's kind reply. Thank you :)

I don't think AHPRA accepts documents by email... I may be wrong though. But you can request your RO if it is possible and that you will be sending the documents via courier in the soonest time possible.

Thank you for your reply, @ Cucci..I have been sending queries to my RO since the other week, but got no reply from her. But I'll take your suggestion, hopefully she'll promptly respond this time.

Check the emails you received from her/him... they usually include telephone/mobile numbers... since there is some time element involved, try calling her/him.

A few international minutes could be worth more than the stress of waiting for an email reply.

I've tried contacting the number stated in her email, but was frustrated to only talk to a customer service representative. I thought I could directly reach her thru phone. Or can the customer service representative transfer calls to the ROs concerned?

Thanks Cucci for your input. Much appreciated :)
