Meeting AHPRA requirements as a International Trained Nurse from the Philippines

World Registration

Published

Oh great! AHPRA received my application on the 22nd of Feb but I received the acknowledgement letter 5 days later which was on the 27th. Hopefully it will arrive next week based on the average processing time frame, although I'm still hopeful that I can get the letter early. Anyway, how did your reserve your slot in ACN? Do I need to fully accomplish the requirements first? Thanks!

At this moment, I believe issuance of Eligibility roughly 1 months. last Christmass and New year it took more than 1 month, backlogs somehow was lessen, so 1 month would be decent.

I think all documents that are printed/photocopied must be notarized/certified true copy.

Exactly, better have it notarize, I notarize my documents so that I they will not ask for more.

Guys I need help. I am currently working overseas and my contract is due to expire on March 2018. After that I want to do the bridging program in Australia and apply to AHPRA. Around April 2018. My concern is, if I apply right now, would the Letter of Eligibility be expired by then? If they approve applications as fast as a month or two months time? Thanks for the help!

If in case you have passed your preferred english language exam today and you will apply for AHPRA for eligibility. I would say it will expire, as the Eligibility is valid only for 1 year from the date of issuance, therefore in 1 year time frame you have to manage to accomplish all the requirement of school, and Visa 600 requirement. If your are planning to leave your Job by April 2018, be sure to send your application 3rd or last quarter of this year.

Hi. About AGOS-40:

Q15 -- This about having a criminal hx.

Q16 -- This about stating the countries you have been living or have lived primarily for 6 months or longer when you are 18 y/o and older. You only answer "No" if you have not been outside Australia and have not lived for 6 months and longer in countries outside Australia.

NBI clearance is not needed in AHPRA application. However, you can just use this as an addition to your Identity Requirement if you already have one.

Since you will be answering "Yes" in Q16, you need to have an ICHC from an AHPRA-approved vendor. See this link about International Criminal History Check detail --> Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency - International criminal history checks

I've reviewed question 16:

Are there any countries other than Australia in which you have lived, or been primarily based, for six consecutive months or longer, when aged 18 years or more?

and I think my answer for that would be No, because although I have been working outside the Philippines I only stay in a certain location for 6 weeks or roughly 42 days and then I go back home and vice versa. Not for 6 consecutive months or longer.

So what happens if my answer is No? Do I still need to have an ICHC?

Sorry for the confusion. Thanks in advance!

hello lorenz!

What I did was I provided my master contract which contains the total number of hours worked per week, this document will supplement your general COE. ;)

Hi Khriza,

Just a follow up, did you attach your full contract or only the pages containing the total number of hours per week?

and also, my contract only states the the days (6) per week not the hours. do you think it would suffice? my contract only shows date dates of employment.

thanks in advance!

I believe the answer should be Yes, since the Philippines is where you are from and lived there for more than 6 months even after the age of 18. You also did 4 years of BSN training that is not in Australia, so yes should be the correct answer and you'll need an ICHC (from fit2work.com.au) for that. :)

May you please send me a copy of your form? ([email protected] - my allnurses.com e-mail). Are you done with your MRSA and other tests? I'll try to get it touch with RITM. Thank you!

I'm still waiting for the reply from ETEA regarding the clarification. Will do email you after they respond. :)

i would answer yes to this question in your case. Just answer the question directly, and stop over analyzing it. Have you been "primarily" based - yes. For 6 consec months - yes. It's that simple. You won't though be needing ichc for the other countries you've been to.

In my case for example, i have practiced in 2 different countries and at 1 point I have been primarily based on both of them, at the same time registered. I requested 2 ichc, this is pre bp and post bp. Yep, you need to request again after completion.

Hello. Isn't Philippines outside Australia? I believe you have lived in the Philippines for 6 months or longer starting 18 y/o.

Just list countries outside Australia where you have lived for 6 consecutive months or longer when aged 18 and up.

You really need to get ICHC my friend.
