For those who failed to get the required scores in IELTS but are confident that they hit the mark, there is an option to have your IELTS scores rechecked. The only set back is the waiting time again for the rechecking because your exam will be sent to Cambridge and will be checked by Senior IELTS examiners.
I failed the IELTS 2x (1st take- Speaking 6.5... and 2nd take Writing 6.0) ... and I did not mind having it rechecked despite having scores of 7.5 to 8.5 in other tests)... but on my third take (Writing 6.5) ... I got fed up and I decided to have it rechecked... I paid more than half of the IELTS exam fee... waited for another 6 weeks... but when the wait was over... I received my score and the rechecking fee was returned to me! Sweet Sweet success!!!

I applied online for my visitor visa. It took 3 weeks and 2 days before they decide to grant it. That includes the very long christmas and new year holidays. Technically, the grant can be shortened. I had my medicals at Nationwide, cheaper than St Lukes but generally take longer for the results to be uploaded. I'm flying on the 28th.
