Meeting AHPRA requirements as a International Trained Nurse from the Philippines

Pretending we finished the BP successfully and reApplied for the registration in AHPRA, then successfully registered in AHPRA, then we can skip ANMAC and proceed to applying for PR (assuming point system acquired)?

Nope. ANMAC performs the skills assessment. It is them that issues the letter that states that you are suited for migration as a nurse. It's a process thing why that is, I would not understand but being registered with AHPRA enables candidates to skip some of the process and proceed with a modified assessmen so I reckon that leaves just a portion for ANMAC to look at.

To qualify for immigration, you will need two things: 60 Points, and a skill in the SOL.

ANMAC is charged with assessing the credentials of an individual to determine if they are suitable. For some countries like those belonging in the Anglo Sphere, their credentials are accepted and they can immigrate. However this does not give them registration (refer to ordoghaz: PH trained, RN for a long time in UK, granted PR but still awaiting for AHPRA's response, his nursing education and experience qualifies as suited for immigration, for registration however AHPRA will perform the assessment). For most of us ANMAC has deemed that we will have to register with AHPRA first in order to be 'suited for immigration'.

Yes, jmolina1985 is right. We can not skip ANMAC for PR purposes. It's Australia's golden requirement for any skilled migrant to be assessed by a certain body. This is not just for nurses. Although, to most skilled migrants there's no bridging program that is needed. I bet you if you do not consider this before, then you should revise your plans. It's a long an tedious process. That is why I am really bothered with the new process after BP because I have planned to apply for ANMAC while still in Australia as my possible visa would permit me but time is both a friend and an enemy and I am now uncertain to that plan, maybe just do it when I get back here in PH.

For you to plan out:

1. AHPRA

2. BRIDGING PROGRAM

3. AHPRA

4. ANMAC

5. DIBP

We all hope to be sponsored by an employer after registration but back up plan is needed after every plan. This may suffice for now. I just want to fancy that news on our local TV is about 500 nurses needed in Australia and not in UK just like what is shown minutes ago. Hahahaha!

Thank you jmolina and official02 for the clarifications. It looks like this will take another year before we get employment (if no sponsorship after registration). I also thought we could already apply for anmac while doing the bridging but apparently we have to wait for the registration from ahpra, which by then the visa for the bridging has already ended, and so we will be back at our home country (unless apply for tourist or other visa). And we'll have to wait for one step at a time before we can proceed to another.

1.ahpra (waiting for referral to bridging)

2. Bridging (3 months)

3. Reapplication to ahpra (visa from bridging almost expiring, 1-2 months ahpra registration)

4. Anmac (3-4 months)

5. DIBP - PR

Based on my experience after bridging course, my school IHNA submitted a graduation list to AHPRA. Then I went back to the Philippines and waited for my registration to be posted on AHPRA's website. I think there's no need to reapply to AHPRA because its just a continuation of the processing of the registration. Some of my friends waited 2 weeks for registration to arrive while I waited for a month. Also in applying for ANMAC, you also have to prepare certain documents and have them certified and posted to ANMAC in Canberra. =)

@kristine25

Hi. It's a different scenario now when it comes to registration after BP. I have posted their new rule/requirements pages ago. Would you believe they require us to provide new AGOS 40, send new certificate of registration from PRC, pay application fee again? That's on top of other requirements that may expire and must be submitted again.

May I just ask if you paid for application again? I asked my post-BP friends, they said that they didn't.

I have tweeted AHPRA days ago but their not replying.

@official02

Im sorry I havent read your previous posts and I didnt know that there are new rules imposed by AHPRA. In my case, my bp ended last June 10, 2014. I didnt pay anything after bridging course. What I can remember is I just went to AHPRA for personal appearance after bp and submitted my identity docs, that's all. Maybe these new rules are for those who have newly applied to AHPRA since they are changing rules every July. When did you start processing your papers to AHPRA?I started mine April 2013 and received LOE around October or November 2013.

Hi to all! I just want to ask for those who are already working in australia, is recommendation letter from reference needed when applying to jobs post BP? And how many reference and recommedation letters should we provide? Thank you

got this email today...

"Your application has now progressed to the national processing team, who will review your international qualifications.The new model includes eight criteria that your qualification(s) must meet in order to be considered substantially equivalent to an approved Australian qualification."

@Majai: when did you send your documents? Has anyone from the national processing team contacted you too?

@Majai: when did you send your documents? Has anyone from the national processing team contacted you too?

I sent my documents on July 1, 2014...

They sent me an email that they cannot access my payment from my Debit Card and payment was finally done on the 22nd of August 2014

I had to email them with regards to my application standing on the last week of September and they requested that I submit additional docs.

Just yesterday, I sent them an email to inquire about my application status... and I received my reply today... that it's now forwarded to the national processing team.

Hi everyone! I'm just new to this site. I recently passed the oet exam here in Melbourne and been doing PCA job for 2yrs now since I came here as PR. My

question is, do I have to send the AGOS-40 form to ahpra without the certificate of good standing yet? Or should i request for a certificate of good standing first to PRc before sending the AGOS-40? Appreciate ur help. Thank you!

hi, i just noticed that most of those who got their LOE's were offshore applicants, is there someone in here who is onshore who got their LOE's already? kindly update me.
