Meeting AHPRA requirements as a International Trained Nurse from the Philippines

Published

Hi balongmeow, my first option is deakin since its only 6 mintues away from my sisters house, however, their next intake is june 26 so I crossed it out. So far, what suits my sched/budget/ location is ETEA in heidelberg. I only have to inquire yet where will their placement as I dont want to spend extra for accommodation if ever placement will be outside melbourne.

I am still waiting for response from epworth freemason, melbourn city institue of education. Monash uni in clayton is okay but a bit costly (and will still verify dates of inatke). As for acfe, it's also ok but my decision will depend at the area of placement.

See you at the seminar

My sister called my RO earlier today to follow up my application and my RO did not give a date as to when will be the decision.nshe just said it is already at the board and I had 8 ticks out of 9 (I dont know what those were) and they are trying to accomodate all applicants due to the backlog. I applied in melbourne feb 2014, completed april 2014. So let's just wait and at least prepare for the bridging

Hi guys,

So far I e.mailed all listed schools as board approved providers. I'll give them until Friday to respond before posting it here. La Trobe uni has a June 1 intake for 12500. Remember though that that is in BENDIGO, between Deakin and La Trobe I would go for Deakin as it is in Melbourne and has good access for Trams and Train services. I am eyeing Monash although that 5 year post grad experience is something to be concerned about but still waiting for a formal response.

I submitted my docs march 2014,it was filed on april 2014 according to my RO and it was decided last nov. 6. I am just waiting for my loe to be released.

Regarding new post bridging rule. This is my RO's response:

If you are referred to a Board approved bridging program, your current application will be closed it is essentially a refusal. The refund of the registration fee will be processed. The application fee and overseas assessment fee is non refundable.

If you successfully complete a bridging program, you will need to lodge a new application and provide any documentation which is no longer valid. Ie a certificate of good standing from the overseas regulatory authority. We will be able to use documentation on file if it is still valid.

The fee’s associated with the new application fee will be a registration fee and application fee only. You will not need to be assessed as an international applicant so the process should take no longer than 4-6 weeks.

So thats it guys. We dont need to wait for almost a year to get our registration license. Good luck to us!

I am one of the applicants for the scholarship for the Monash Uni's program. If you'll email the Monash Nursing Academy, they will redirect you to Auss One Corp. Auss One Corp facilitates all applications for the program. They postponed all 3 intakes for the program this year because of the long waiting time. As of now, you'll just see on Monash Uni's site that it may start on early 2015. Auss One Corp is linked/tied to Education Linkages Philippines and Australia. Last August, I had an interview with them and passed the screening but until today I am waiting for the final decision if I passed the "scholarship" part. I am not yet tied with that said corporations, I haven't signed any agreement yet because I am still waiting if I passed the scholarship, just being practical and sure. Although, I am updating them with my situation and once in a while we exchange emails (Auss One/ELP Phil/Aus).

To be honest, I myself cannot guarantee if the scholarship is genuine. If I am one of the recipients of the scholarships, I'll bite it. It will not save me the entire cost. Remember that these are corporations and it's business. And yes, it's a loan that you should make for the entire cost, less the tuition fee but PLUS other (agency fees) which in reality, if you can pay the whole amount immediately, can only save you by around 2,000 AUD (own forsight of computation). But if the interest keeps coming, it'll be more. If no scholarships, no way.

The perks are you can go for BP by paying less at first (less hassle), they can facilitate for everything such as accommodation, they can refer you to their affiliated hospitals after BP for job (although, no guarantee), they can facilitate for visa needs from business visa, employer nominated to permanent residency. It's a concerted effort for them but since it's a business, you have to pay for that which I already included in my computation.

An update from them still does not give the final date for the the program but it is possible that it can be January 2015.

Thanks for the update. Well, we all know that AHPRA is not really good with their own timelines. I won't depend on that less than 4-6 weeks. Although I am hoping that it'll be just under 2 weeks. I already tweeted my concerns.

How will they refund the registration fee?

And why we should pay again for the application fee, we initially paid for that, right? It's prudent that they just continue with our original application and make ends meet.

@official02: how can i qualify for the scholarship? Are they still accepting applicants? And how many years of nursing exp. Do you have?

@official02: i asked my RO regarding the refund but no response yet..

@rina.bella

5 years plus. If you're from Manila, they have an office in New York, Cubao.
