Meeting AHPRA requirements as a International Trained Nurse from the Philippines

World Registration

Published

There's also IHNA in Victoria although I would classify the institution as TAFE but heck, what we need is a registration eh? Hahaha They run the program for 10900 I think and they have an intake on March 30. I'm most likely to join this one but hey, keep you options open. Which one works best for you is what you should go for.

@jmolina1985 and official02, please share your school scouting. i am also targeting to take the bridging by the first quarter of 2015

(preferably late Feb/ early March) in vic. thank you for sharing. good luck!

Aside from the refusal letter and LOE, AHPRA also sent me the bridging program fact sheet which is also now can be seen on their site.

I am uncertain about the process of registration after BP however I asked some friends who finished BP and I think it's a different set up now.

10. How do I reapply after completing the bridging program?

Required documentation: post-bridging     

You must complete and submit a new AGOS-40 application form and make all declarations required in the form.

You must pay the registration and application fees, however the overseas assessment fee is not charged when reapplying after completion of a bridging program.

You must provide a copy of your course completion certificate from the bridging course. You must provide all identification requirements (as detailed in the Proof of Identity fact sheet) not previously provided.

You must arrange for a new Certificate of Good Standing or Certificate of Registration Status to be sent to AHPRA directly from the relevant authority.

Some applicants may need to provide additional information:   If your work history has changed since you initially applied for registration, you must:  provide an updated Statement of Service from your employer(s) covering the time since you initially applied  submit a new curriculum vitae that describes your full practice history and any training undertaken in accordance with the Information and definitions section of the AGOS-40 application form. If applicable, you must provide on separate sheets details of any:  criminal history  impairment that affects your capacity to practice

 disqualification from applying for registration. 

If your IELTS or OET test has expired you must provide a new certificate or evidence that you:  have actively maintained continuous practice and/or employment as a registered nurse, enrolled nurse or midwife using English as the primary language of practice in any of the recognised countries listed in the English language registration standard; and/or  have been continuously enrolled in a program of study taught and assessed in English and approved by the recognised nursing and/or midwifery regulatory body in any of the countries listed in the English language registration standard. It is recommended that you include a cover letter with your application that states that you are reapplying after successfully completing a bridging program. Once the documentation submitted has been reviewed, you may be requested to provide additional documentation. All documentary evidence must meet the AHPRA certification requirements.

On bolded parts:

1. Resending AGOS 40 really means RE APPLICATION. It just tell us that we have to endure all the waiting again.

2. As far as I know, my friends who finished BP did not have to pay the Application Fee again. Why is it this time?

3. Certificate of Registration from PRC? So yeah, courier fee again.

4. So I guess, we need to ask our employers for another SOS.

5. On IELTS, I believe that applicants before this new set up with an expired IELTS during/after BP can still be registered.

6. I just hope that the cover letter will let them prioritize our applications.

7. Where should we REAPPLY? Our initial lodgement branch? NSW? Or the state where we took BP?

-----------

I just don't know how much AHPRA would want us to wait longer and longer and to pay more fees just to be registered. I am not a masochist. I know that it's too farfetched to think of these issues since I'm yet to apply for BP but I need to be prepared. And I very much aware that this is THEIR requirments.

I believe that in the past, BP providers facilitates their graduates papers for registration. With this new requirements, I guess we need to hurdle it all alone. This serves as a red flag for everyone of us to basically make plans as early as now.

I feel that I need to argue with AHPRA about this.

Hi everyone! My case officer told me that my application was decided by the board last Nov.6. Hopefully by the end of November,I can already have my most awaited loe. Regarding the new rule about post bridging,it is indeed frustrating to know that we need to WAIT and PAY again in order to gain full registration. I just sent an inquiry to my case officer regarding this new procedure of AHPRA, will update you guys once I already have a response.

Official02

Have you inquired with your case officer regarding the post bridging program procedure?

hi guys, what's the equivalent of Justice of the Peace here in the Philippines? cause my RO emailed me regarding a variation of my name (basically, it's just my middle name printed after my last name before a y) in my supporting document, and she wants me to submit an affidavit / statutory declaration that it's the same person. Anyone who've gone through with that too?

Hi She_Pinay, I received today an email from my RO same as yours regarding a variation of my name and he told me that I need to submit an affidavit for that in order to finalize my application since they already reviewed it. How did it went after you submit the affidavit? I am going to go for a notary public today and send this requirement immediately by courier either Fedex or DHL.

@jmolina1985

It seems that i finally figured out what happened why i received a late assessment. I applied Nov 2013, got my application completed on March 2014 and according to my r.o. my papers is due on 21 Nov. The thing is that I filed my application in Melbourne. Usually it is more congested when filing applications in NSW and Victoria because they receive more applicants compared to other territories.

I advised the new applicants to lodge their applications probably in WA or SA and QLD for they give the fastest time in assessment and release of loe's.

To those who received their much awaited loe's, a school ceo from autralia will be conducting a seminar on the whole process of the bridging program here in manila for free on the 22 Nov. He will give you a full insight of the course including australian nursing registration and the whole immigration process. admission is for free.

@gin_bukp, what school is this? Though my decision letter has not yet arrived, I am already scouting for school since that will be our fate. Where will be the seminar thanks for the info. Good luck.
