Roxie,

Actually, you are right that your preferred route is shorter in duration despite the heavy price tag but only when it comes to AHPRA registration. But you are actually wrong regarding the 2 years graduate visa, which I assume is the subclass 485. In order to qualify for that, you would have to study 2 years in Australia.

I just have to confirm something. Do I still need to request a copy of my TRF to be sent directly to AHPRA? Cos my friend said that its no longer required... I just want to make sure.

Hi there, I would like to ask a question, I am a registered nurse from the Philippines who has 2 years and 5 months experience in the last 5 years. I completed my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1998 and I also completed my Diploma in Public Education in 2004. Lastly, I completed my Bachelor of Science in Nursing on 2009. But before I took my first degree, I took a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy for 3 years yet I did not finish it so I shifted my course to Business Administration. Are my qualifications enough to have positive skills assessment? Is my nursing degree equivalent to an australian bachelor degree?

I also heard that a PHILIPPINE NURSING DEGREE is only equivalent to an AUSTRALIAN DIPLOMA which is a qualification of an ENROLLED NURSE in AUSTRALIA. Can I register as an enrolled nurse in australia with my RN degree in the philippines which is equivalent to an australian diploma?

nursingpinas,

They will only assess your nursing degree. They wont bother looking at your BSBA and Public Education degree as they are totally unrelated to nursing. They might ask for the transcripts, though, if the subjects are credited towards your BSN, i.e minor subjects.

And no, you won't have a positive skills assessment based on your qualifications. You have to undergo a bridging program and register under AHPRA before you get the positive skills assessments.

@rina.bella thanks for all the info. can I get your email add? i have some questions.

hi, shenderella did your friend go to a provincial branch of CHED?

iamnomad , Can i be registered as an enrolled nurse instead beacause i dont have the financial capacity to support my bridging program fees and stuff. I also heard that MY RN DEGREE is equivalent to a AUSTRALIAN DIPLOMA which is a qualification of an enrolled nurse.

the hospital where I''ve worked does not give out reference letters unless you have worked with them for 5 years and above... can anyone enlighten me on how to go about with this problem?

Maybe you could ask your immediate head for the professional reference letter?

I don't know if you could coz I have not heard of anyone who've done it. I guess you can try and apply.
