Hi everyone!
I am new here, so please forgive me if I say or ask anything out-of-the-norm.
I have been a registered nurse since 2009 but have never done any hospital work.
I have pursued my Master's degree tho. My grandparents (who live in NSW) are telling me to try and enroll in La Trobe University's IRON program. As far as what they have told me, La Trobe does not require any hospital experience I also validated this myself by checking their site (but if I am mistaken here, please do correct me). My problem now is with getting a letter of eligibility from AHPRA. If I am applying for AGOS-40 is it really required that I have a minimum of 3 months experience? Or can that be waived since I am going on a bridging course?
Thank you so much for your response!

It cannot be waived. It's a requirement to be assessed by AHPRA. Bridging courses last 10-12 weeks. It will only be waived if you study nursing again in Australia (2-3 years).

You must have at least 3 months recency of practise, this includes from the website:
Practice means any role, whether remunerated or not, in
which the individual uses their skills and knowledge as
a nurse or midwife. In accordance with the Recency of
practice registration standard, practice is not restricted to
the provision of direct clinical care. It also includes working
in a direct non-clinical relationship with clients, working in
management, administration, education, research, advisory,
regulatory or policy development roles and any other roles
that impact on safe, effective delivery of services in the
profession and/or use of professional skills.
Practice hours may be recognised if:
• you have practised your profession for a minimum
period equivalent to three months full time, within the
past five years
• the applicant held valid registration with a nursing or
midwifery regulatory authority in the jurisdiction (either
Australia or overseas) when the hours were worked; or
• the role involved the application of nursing and/or
midwifery knowledge and skills; or
• the time was spent undertaking postgraduate education
leading to an award or qualification that is relevant to
the practice of nursing and/or midwifery.
For further information on requirements see the Board’s
Recency of practice registration standard which can be found
at Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia - Home
Does not state that you must have an employer for 3 months of that in previous question, it just asks the question have you had any employers,
What you must have if, not qualified in the last 12 months, is recency of practise of at least 3months.
Question 17. can not be answered by any nurse from the Phillipines that has done volonnteer work, as this question states émployer' you hterefore have never had an employer, but a host that let you work there, for free, so therefore you would never have been employed if it is volunteer work. This question has to be no.
Question 18. asks recency of practise and that were you have to have 3 months - paid or not or study is acceptable.
Have Filipino nurses have not been stating they were volunteers? I do hear that they get their host hospital to state they are employed as staff nurses, which is not correct.

Nope. I'm in Sg. U lodged your papers to ahpra already? So difficult to settle papers when you're not in your home base.
