Hi guys! I am in a bit of a dilemma. I currently need 80% on my medsurg final so 90/110 questions to pass the course. i have the option of dropping the course by tomorrow but that would put me a whole year behind, or I can take a risk and try to get that mark. Your answers would really help! thank you

What have you got to lose by taking the test? Is it a course you can repeat--even this summer--if you need to--if the test does not go well?
If it is a flunk and you are out situation, that is different. However, if it is not, I would take the test and see how it goes. If you are finding that you don't test well, start ASAP getting a tutor to assist you.
Best wishes, and let us know how it goes!!

Maybe discuss it with your program director or ADN, they can probably give you the best advice!
I say go for it, study your pants off. You can miss 20 whole questions, which if you know your stuff isn't too bad. You got this.
I'm just worried because I've been studying so hard for this class but I'm not testing well. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can pass?

if you fail the test, you will still go back a year probably.. but your gpa may be screwed up if you need a good one to get scholarships or something.....i'd be hitting safety topics and study 10 hours a day till the day before test, dont study alot day before test as a fresh mind will serve you better,, go with your gut on abc's and maslow,,learn to do that WELL. if your test covers neuro, hit that hard. resp also.

Eventually you're going to have to take the test anyway so you may as well try unless the consequences for taking it and failing is worse than withdrawing and taking it all over again when you may actually pass the test in the end (after all, you've been studying). Is it a standardized test or just one from your school? If standardized, try reviewing questions from the test provider related to the area that is being covered on the test (My bridge program uses HESI after each course). If it's a test from your school then try reviewing what areas you know were stressed in lecture or covered on the earlier tests for the course (I have seen many from past courses at other colleges come back for the final). If you know your weak areas, focus on those. Good luck.
Thanks guys i decided to keep it and work hard to get that 80!

This is kinda late, but my tips are for u to do the following:
Talk to other passing classmates to find out what they're doing. Use their methods.
Take nclex style questions on Med surge. This way, you should get accustomed to the types of questions. Read rationales, etcetera.
Really focus in class. Most, not all, of our instructors gave us hints, if not the answers during lecture. I tool tons of notes and studied them.
