Nurses, do you allow med techs to administer meds to a continuous feed?
What if the machine is disconnected?
Any feedback is appreciated.

Every place I've worked med techs don't touch tube feedings.
THANK YOU.

Doesn't your facility have a policy regarding this?

My work the med techs can both disconnect and administer the meds through the continuous feed Maybe this is a state board question it probably varies
I"ve asked around at work but not in an official manner. Most of the nurses at work do their own meds with continuous feed but not with bolus.

Where I worked, the med aides were allowed to start and stop continuous feedings and flush the tubing, but only the nurses gave meds and bolus feedings.
