Hey guys!
I am 22 into my second block of nursing school! Just finished the first block a few weeks ago with a semester GPA of 3.5 and for a nursing student I feel that's not bad.
I want to continue to work hard and do well like last block, but it seems med-surge is the next mountainous challenge on my path. For my former nursing student and current or former nurses, do you have any advice on how to be successful in this course?
I'm nervous because it is all critical thinking!
Please, if anyone has any advice for me please post :) Thank you so so much!!
Hope all of my fellow nursing students are doing well!
Thank you ,
Jenna

Use an NCLEX review book, such as Saunders. Great study tool!

Take a deep breath very slowly, and check out a good book on critical thinking. That will give you a good structure to help you think about everything else. :) And keep asking questions. NEVER let something go past you that you don't understand well enough to explain to someone else; keep asking until you do. The student help forum is a good place to ask.

I have been out for a while. I didn't want my old cohort to think I would be weak coming back (lets face it people talk). So I got the success series by Davis and the hogan review and rationale for that and mental health. Both are great I've done about 120+ nclex questions over break and with in the last two weeks.

I just completed my 8 weeks of medsurg a few weeks ago. Its a lot of info, but very doable! I used Saunders & did NCLEX questions pertaining to each subject. I also bought a book called medical surgical made incedibly easy (my saving grace). Im not sure if you're able to, but if you are, record lectures! Good luck :)
Perfect! I have 3 different ones. Just bought the newest edition. Thank you! :)
I bought both of those books (NCLEX and Medical Surgical Nursing Made Incredibly Easy) :) They are on my book shelf ready to be used! Recording lecture have not been much of a benefit in past courses, but I will give it another try. Thank you!
I do have the success books as well those tend to help a lot! Thank you for your help! :)
Thank you for your supportive thoughts and suggestions. I shall use them wisely! :)
