Published

Hey ! I know im super early to make this thread for the MDE program at Columbia for the 2021 start year ? but I was wondering if there are any future nurses out there as eager as me to get started !!

For people who took their prerequisites with Portage Learning, do you put Geneva College on your transcripts?

Yes that is what I put because the transcripts itself from them will say Geneva college

Hey guys,

How much of the timed writing would it affect the application? I think this was probably the worst paragraph I ever wrote in my life. Matter of fact, it was just a paragraph. SIIIIGGHHH. I don't know what I was thinking ?

For the travels part for the resume, what did they want to see? Unfortunately I could not make it to the online sessions because of work... I saw some couple of helpful facts on this thread,.

I''m thinking I'm going to just apply next year and save myself the application fee because I messed up the timed writing lmao.

I would say they look at everything. Was it a hard topic? What's there to lose by applying this year? You never know if you don't try.

@poopoosadsad

STILL APPLY!! You got this!

It was not a hard topic it's just, I guess I was a bit too nervous and only finished a paragraph and I was super casual in it. LOL.

I lose money hahaha!

I'm just looking through everyone stats and honestly I don't see myself as a competitive candidate compared to most of you guys. I guess I'm letting stress get the best of me since the deadline is getting closer and closer!

Columbia accepts students from GPA 2.75 to 4.0. Just write a genuine and fierce essay!

The timed writing is a short amount of time for a reason. A paragraph itself is fine, I believe mine was a paragraph or a little over a paragraph. They just want to see how much you can think and write basically under pressure and how your sentences flow and what your thoughts are. Don’t stress it at all. They just want to see how genuine you are in your personal statement. That’s the most important! I don't think my application will be as competitive as everyone else too because I don’t have much travel experience, etc. They would like to see where you traveled to and what you did.  Butttt I did try to make myself shine through my personal statement, and tweaked my resume a bit. They just want to see how passionate you are about nursing ! You got this. I believe in all of us here.

For the travel part, do they want us to list countries or cities?

I believe you could list both or either one. For example, I put I traveled to asia to learn more about my culture and background. I didn’t mention any cities I specifically went to.

Hey everyone!

I'm so glad I found this thread! Goodluck to everyone applying! I had a question regarding the optional essay? Is anyone planning on doing it, if so what would be something good to write about in this section?
