MDC Nursing Spring 2019

Updated:   Published

To anyone out there....

I had planned to apply for Fall 2018 but I will be finishing my pre reqs on May 1,2018. The exact deadline to apply for Fall. Is anyone in a similar situation? Do you think I should apply anyways?

Hello, I just graduated this past August with my AA in Pre-Nursing from MDC. I took the HESI on June 30th, and I got an 84.57. I have a 3.8 science GPA so my composite score should be an 88.7. From what I've heard they should be sending the acceptance emails the 3rd week of October so between the 15-19 I believe. Have you guys applied anywhere else? I'm applying to Nova this week, and I looked into Keiser but wasn't too happy with some of the stuff they make you go through in the application process. Good luck to all of you!

Good luck! What programs did you apply to?

I was curious about class times and schedules, so I did a search of nursing class for the fall. I was surprised to find that almost all the courses had available seats or one could still register for the classes. Do any of you thin that is because MDC does not complete fill the classes or some students go elsewhere? Or do they only take qualified candidates even if seats still available? I have read that they do three rounds of acceptances and often it is because not all students eventually register for classes. Imagine students are applying for multiple programs and MDC is not always their top choice or MDC is only taking certain students while leaving available seats. Meanwhile, I am already anxious to get an email.

I saw that! The problem is they take too long to accept students so the students end up accepting other offers. In my case I only applied at MDC but as a human I have my doubts about getting accepted. I scored 80% on my HESI and my Science GPA is 3.6 and I'm still worried. I guess we just have to be patient and wait. Thank goodness for this thread. I feel like I'm not alone so the wait is more tolerable.

Thank you! I applied to the generic full-time program

Good point about acceptance, it keeps too many in limbo while NOVA or even UM is much faster and I am sure those small expensive schools have a very quick process. So far I have only applied to MDC as well, I am paying out of pocket since I already have a Bachelors and not expecting financial aid. I would not worry about getting accepted because I have a friend that has your same score but lower GPA and was accepted this fall. That said, I know what you mean because I have higher scores and still worry because really would like to attend MDC and not spend too much money.

Hi @Shireenk7;

Thank you for your reply.

if you get accepted into both option, which one will you pick?

Hi @Tigerlily791;

You have good scores/GPA, you are gonna be selected, don't worry. I was accepted for fall Semester with a Hesi score of 72 and GPA 3.89 (accelerated option). I declined the offer bc of financial reasons.

This time applying for generic FT and AO again. I feel ready to start in January.

The generic full time. I'm planning on applying for the Baptist Scholarship. I've met my maximum on student loans (I already have a masters) so it's either a scholarship or out of pocket for me.

Were you accepted the 1st round?

@Shireek7;

Yes I was... but I got only accepted for the AO (I applied for both generic FT and AO).

Generic FT is always very competitive...

That is why I am sure you and I will get accepted.

This time I am not sure what to pick if I get accepted into both programs.

Also the average of my Hesi class was low 74 or 75...

I hope so! The suspense is killing me lol

How do you find out the class average?
