MDC Nursing Spring 2017

Published

Hi,

I just took the Hesi entrance exam last week and I am about to apply to Miami Dade College for the Spring 2017 generic full time program. The deadline is September 1 so I am sure there are more than a few people that have applied or are getting ready to apply. I have not seen a forum as yet for spring 2017. I would like to hear from people who are applying for spring 2017.

I'm constantly checking mine as well, I'm getting anxious!! Let's stay positive

Good Luck everyone. I have to apply next year may 2017 for the part time program. I currently have a bachelors from fiu dietetics & Nutrition, science gap 3.3, and hesi score of 81.71. Taking Human growth and development in jan 17 :-/ because i didn't have the pre req. Do you think these scores could give me a chance to the RN program?

Hi guys! Just wanted to say congrats on taking the first step towards your nursing career. I am currently an MDC AO (accelerated option) student. I started in January of this year. I received my acceptance letter on October 16. So just around the corner for you guys.

I don't know how to write this without sounding janky but if anyone is interested in buying my scrubs or books for the cheap (Because we all know how expensive the book store is). Please keep me and my classmates in mind.

And of course if you have any questions, feel free to message me.

Best of luck!

Sup guys! I'm in the same boat as all of you. Like a girl before me, I too took my classes at FIU and got royally spanked on chemistry and Anatomy (really bad semester for reasons other than school), which resulted in a pretty bad 3.2 science gpa when everything was done. Studied pretty hard for the hesi (Elselvier book, and took literally every single online Hesi test simulation for every section I could find) and got a solid 92%, making my combined score, or HESI*0.60+GPA*10, about 87. From what I heard, last spring pretty much everyone with an 83 combined score on up got in, but like all you guys, I AM NERVOUS AS MIKE TYSON AT A SPELLING BEE. Hoping this next week gives us all good news, and that we get can a rough estimate of what score gets accepted for next years applicants!

I applied for the accelerated program. Can you give me some info on how the schedule is and how the classes are so far?

Hey Lobe you have a pretty good shot with that score and gpa but if I were you I would take the HESI another time before you apply so you can get a higher score it will increase your chances of being accepted..especially since the HESI score is weighed in as 60% for acceptance

I'm in the currently in the Accelerated Option program that started January of this year, 2016. The schedule varies from semester to semester. But the first semester (January to June), you should expect to be in class at least 3 days a week from 8am-12pm. There will be days where you could have class until very late in the afternoon around 5pm. The other two days, you will have clinicals from 7am to 3pm.

The classes are extremely fast paced. I put in at least 4-6 hours of studying at least 5 days a week for the first semester. As the program progressed and we stopped taking more than one class at a time, I changed my study habits.

If you're thinking about working in AO, I would strongly discourage this for the first semester. Once you get the hang of balancing studying and exams, you can explore that. The classmates that do work in the program have very irregular hours, nothing structured. Hope I could help ;)

Same thing happened to me at FIU. I graduated from FIU with a BA in Psych and took all the nursing pre-req there. I have the same science GPA, due to CHEM and Anatomy lowering them. Retook anatomy at Dade and got an A, while people at FIU are crying over that class :(. I got a 90.86% on the HESI, so hopefully I get in. FIU is such a pain and made me doubt myself so many times. At least I did well on the test, but it has cost me so much stress and waste of my time. I applied to both the accelerated and generic programs. Still don't know if to take the accelerated since I work, but I just want my BSN already.

No emails yet, fingers crossssssssed

hopefully today emails go out

I really hope they send them today!!
