Hi,
I just took the Hesi entrance exam last week and I am about to apply to Miami Dade College for the Spring 2017 generic full time program. The deadline is September 1 so I am sure there are more than a few people that have applied or are getting ready to apply. I have not seen a forum as yet for spring 2017. I would like to hear from people who are applying for spring 2017.
Positive thoughts....we will all get in and we will all find out tomorrow for sure! Orientation is next month and they have to give us time to complete our vaccines , background checks etc. Lets hope that by this time tomorrow we will all have good news!!
I love your positivity and optimism! I can already tell you're going to be a great nurse :)
Was anyone aware that the application deadline was extended beyond Sept 1st? I called the medical campus earlier to try and find out when we can expect acceptance emails and the advisor said that they are still selecting because the deadline was extended. Did anyone here apply after September 1?

that makes sense then why it's taken so long for emails to go out..but yeah I wasn't aware they had extended the application deadline.Damn this is frustrating
I don't know for how long they extended it but they did that last year since they didn't have enough applicants (i.e. money) yet. Kinda sucks for all us who went nutts getting our stuff in on time, but thus is the dade wayAnyone needs me i'll be dying
Save me some space in th coffin next to you might as well share that along with this anguish lol!
I'm in the currently in the Accelerated Option program that started January of this year, 2016. The schedule varies from semester to semester. But the first semester (January to June), you should expect to be in class at least 3 days a week from 8am-12pm. There will be days where you could have class until very late in the afternoon around 5pm. The other two days, you will have clinicals from 7am to 3pm.The classes are extremely fast paced. I put in at least 4-6 hours of studying at least 5 days a week for the first semester. As the program progressed and we stopped taking more than one class at a time, I changed my study habits.
If you're thinking about working in AO, I would strongly discourage this for the first semester. Once you get the hang of balancing studying and exams, you can explore that. The classmates that do work in the program have very irregular hours, nothing structured. Hope I could help
Thank you for the information! Greatly appreciate it. I was planning on looking for a part-time job, but it definitely is a great idea to first balance out my studying and exams before.
Do you know how many people were accepted for the AO?
Thanks again!

Haha that sounds like a good back up plan. For me, I turned 27 this year and I feel really behind career wise cuz a lot of my friends are already nurses. I made it a goal that I'd have my career before 30, so I'm hoping it turns out to be the case.
