MDC Nursing spring 2014

Published

So I'm starting the post for Spring 2014. I'm currently waiting for my acceptance letter for fall term but just in case applying for spring is my back up plan.

So my GPA is 3.0 and my teas is 72 giving me a score around 73.

Since I didn't get a first round email for fall I'm thinking of retaking my teas test so if anyone is willing to study with me please let me know. Good luck to everyone applying for spring!!

I called Mdc today they said they're working on sending rejection letters.

@candy2 for the fall, I'm assuming?

@legacyjs I don't remember anything about a land mower. Message me through e-mail since I can't access this site's private messages. IDK why :/ [email protected]

@miri thank you i received your private message :)

@miri33 yes for the Fall.

I was wondering if you guys know the competitive score cut off they had for AO and FT-Generic this Fall. Right now my competitive score is a 83.9-84.5, depending on this semester's final grades. I spoke to an adviser and he thinks I will get in but I'm still on the fence whether to take the TEAS again and try to improve my score.

@miri

when you retake the TEAS is it the same questions?

@AriesTwin not the same, but similar. The reading passages are the same, the questions are not. The math are the same types of questions but not the same numbers.

Also, how do you figure out your competitive score?

@miri

Thanks. I might retake the TEAS it in hopes to calm my nerves. I think I will get in with a 84 but I would like to get in first round for accelerated. I'm scared the score will only be good enough for the FT time seat and once you accept your seat they wont look at you for the second round of admissions even if your in range.

BTW To get your competitive score...

You get your TEAS score and multiply that by .6

(82 x .6 = 49.3pts)

Your Natural Science GPA x10

(3.53 x10 =35.3pts)

combine the both of them to get your competitive score

(49.3+35.3= 84.5)

I calculated your competitive score based on your previous post and its 83.62

@AriesTwin ahh, I see. Thank you. I applied for generic FT and accelerated as well but I was leaning towards the generic since it seems that it's only a 1 semester difference. What are the advantages of doing the accelerated (besides saving yourself one semester)?

@miri33

If I had the time and money I would pick generic FT. It is only one more semester and you would probably end up with better grades and with your sanity in tact. Personally, I want accelerated because I am desperate to start working. I'm in the process of a divorce and have a 1 yr old son. While I'm going to nursing school I will be living with my mother and unable to work. Therefore, I just want to do it as fast as possible to become financially independent and get my own place. If I have to do generic, I will ....just don't like the thought of how am I going to pay for my bills for an additional 3-4 months plus however long it takes to find a job.

Some pros for accelerated is that its more of a cohort program. You start and finish with the same 50 students. Everyone becomes really close with each other and the professors. The obvious finishing within one calendar year which is great. Also the students will prob be more like me, slightly older, have been through college, may have families etc. Lastly not graduating with 150 RN all looking for jobs in the same hospitals at the same time. Also one stupid reason I would like it better is I know if I picked FT, I would feel a bit jealous when AO graduates in December ( knowing that could have been me).

Aries you're still going to graduate with 150 other people. There'll be bridge, and generic that started from semesters past that will be joining you in the job hunt.
