MDC Nursing spring 2014

Published

So I'm starting the post for Spring 2014. I'm currently waiting for my acceptance letter for fall term but just in case applying for spring is my back up plan.

So my GPA is 3.0 and my teas is 72 giving me a score around 73.

Since I didn't get a first round email for fall I'm thinking of retaking my teas test so if anyone is willing to study with me please let me know. Good luck to everyone applying for spring!!

That's very smart move jla27. Which would be your 1st choice?

I love the U but I will be happy with either :-)

I know its a little early, but has anyone started to consider where they are gonna take their CPR class? Secondly, anyone thinking about applying to the BSN program at MDC?

I plan on applying for the BSN as soon as I pass the NCLEX. After doing some research and getting advice from relatives and working RNs, I hear that hospitals are hiring RNs who have their BSN. Recent graduates may have a difficult time finding jobs unless you know someone within the hospital system or if you have previous experience in that particular setting.

As far as the CPR I will be taking that course with MDC since they are very particular on what CPR course they will accept. But the other courses like OSHA, HIPPA, HIV/AIDS, etc.... are a bit cheaper at BCC.

@ Jenesa

I actually took the MDC CPR class this past Saturday. I decided that if I get accepted it would be one last thing I have to rush and get done before Orientation.

@AriesTwin I think thats a very good idea. I'm planning on doing mine soon as well.

@ BDA12NV I was thinking along the same line as well. I having been looking at job postings and they all seems to prefer BSN grads. Its sad that the MDC website does not give much information on the BSN program. Do you know how long the program takes to complete? My goal is to apply to UF midwifery program, once I complete my BSN.

That's great! I want to do midwifery too!

I am not really sure how long MDC BSN program is but it does mention a total of 10 courses within the program. So completing the program in 3-4 semesters would be feasible.

Did you apply to any other schools?

No :( u?

A friend that is currently searching for a job in the field, she advised me to start applying as a volunteer at a hospital. This way you not only learn but also establish relationships that would make the process of getting hired so much easier after graduation.

I have heard that this is a great way to ensure fast job placement after passing the NCLEX.

Anyone on this thread already volunteering somewhere?
