MDC Nursing Fall 2017

Published

Hi everyone! I just wanted to start a thread for applicants of the nursing program at Miami Dade College for Fall term 2017. I'm currently working on my last prerequisites and will be finished this semester. I plan on taking the HESI A2 in January and applying for the Generic and Part time tracks.

Thank you aperez043 and Tita22. :)

Congratulations everyone! Heading to my last semester. Let me know if you have any questions. I'll be happy to answer.

How was your schedule the first semester? Around how many hours per week did you dedicate to studying? Is it true that the schedules as well as the course load become a little less hectic your third and fourth semester?

Is anyone taking the CPR/BLS class on July 1 at the Medical Campus? I was told by someone who took the class 2 years ago that the instructor doesn't require the book in class and that it's very simple. Can someone clarify on that? Also congrats to all who were accepted! :)

Yeah took it last year. You don't need to bring anything. It's pretty simple and straight forward.

Congratulations to all accepted and best of luck to those still waiting!

I got accepted into the Fall Accelerated Program. Does anyone have a list of the books I'll need and/ or anyone selling used books? Thanks!

First semester I was in school Tuesday through Thursday and had clinicals on Friday. Pharm math starts in august and ends in October. So at least that one was out of the way. Clinicals didn't start until the end of September.

First semester you will take: Fundamentals Lecture. Pharmacology Math. Fundamental skills and fundamentals clinical.

I actually feel more at ease my third semester because you take specialty and those are one at a time. For example: I took psychiatric mental nursing in may. I'm taking OB now in June and then peds in july. In second and first semester, you had to find time to study for classes depending whose exam was first.

2nd semester was tough because you take med surgical nursing and pharmacology.

As for how many hours a week I study, I try to study 2-4 hours every other day depending how close the exam is. I tend to study a lot more when the exam day is closer.

I'll be done in 3 weeks with the accelerated program if anyone has any questions!

Guys,

Where can I get all those vaccines done? Will my local Primary care physician be able to take care of those in one sitting? Or do I have to go to MDC and get them all done there as well? Also the 10 panel drug test...I'm new to all this. Thanks!

I have questions about the Accelerated program! Is there anyone I can contact here that has been in this program or is currently in this program?
