so guys-- has anyone already started getting books? i have a few but i am starting to itch for more :)i really want the fundamentals success book, but a new edition is coming in september--i wonder if i should pre-order.... http://www.amazon.com/fundamentals-success-applying-critical-thinking/dp/0803627793/ref=tmm_pap_title_1
i heard this book is sooo good for fundies... i have another study guide for fundies but it doesn't have many nclex questions. hmmm....
i'm def. getting this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1435480295/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=utf8&m=a2n51x1qygfupk
and i am debating getting this one... http://www.amazon.com/lippincotts-review-nclex-rn-diane-billings/dp/1608311252/ref=pd_sim_b_80
i looked at all three and really liked them - so much that i went ahead and invested in them! :) don't debate on the lippincott's review - there are awesome reviews on the book in other sites as well. i have the saunders review book, too, and i think that the two complement each other so i don't think i will have to invest in any other review books. thank you for the heads up!

So, I'm very concerned. It is Saturday EARLY MORNING. And I have my mid-term exam on Tues. 7/19. I have not received ANY notification (email or phone) that I need to attend (part-time) orientation on 7/18 instead of Th 7/22. I checked my email for any new, updated orientation dates. I looked at my old email with the link to the "admissions website" and it still shows 7/22 not 7/18.
I remember that someone mentioned they were accepted to the Homestead campus. When I asked HOW they knew they were accepted to the Homestead campus, they said it was easily apparent in the subject line of the acceptance email. So (weeks ago) I made sure I looked at my acceptance email to be sure I didn't have the same issue (accepted to Homestead when I wanted Med.Ctr. campus).
Oohhh.... I don't like this...I'm sure Romalia Oliver (won't be answering phones or replying to emails over the weekend, right?!)

Hi Fem! If you don't hear back from Romalia over the weekend try to go Monday morning since your midterm isn't until Tuesday. That way if it is changed you'll be there for the actual orientation and I'm sure they will let you take the assessment on a different day (maybe with homesteads group) since you have a midterm Tuesday morning and the change was last minute...if yours was even changed...but just in case I would try to go Monday.
It's really weird that you didn't get an email though. Here we go again with the communication problems...

Fem,
When I got my acceptance email it said I was accepted to the Homestead campus. The advisor I spoke with when I turned in my response form said that they place students according to zip code and since I live in Pembroke Pines it would be straightened out by orientation. I spoke to someone else in the nursing department and she told me to speak with Romalia Oliver. I called many times, emailed, and left voicemail for Romalia and got no response.
Then last week I recieved the call saying that I was assigned to go to the Homestead orientation. I explained my situation and the woman I spoke to said that it was strange that I was accepted to Homestead since I received my acceptance in the first batch (June 13th). She said she would look into it and call me back.
I then called Romalia and by some miracle she answered her phone- only to tell me that that there was absolutely no space on the Medical Campus and that they were not switching students to that campus regardless of where they lived. She went on to say that if I wanted to go to there I would have to reapply for the Spring. I even asked her if there was a waiting list that I could be put on in case a space opened up- she said no. I told her that I heard that other students in my situation were being switched and she asked me which advisors were doing so because they are NOT supposed to. I explained that I had already scheduled a flight out of town for the 20th just so I could attend the original orientation and that there was no way I could attend the Homestead Orientation. She said under those circumstances I could attend the orientation on Mon and Tues but still had to go to Homestead.
So needless to say I was all distraught and disappointed after calculating the 55 min commute I would have to take to get to Homestead (because I refused to sit out another semester because of this BS), and then the phone rang. I missed the call but got a voicemail from Reba saying that I had been switched to Medical campus.
I dont know what the heck is going on with MDC... Maybe they're just making it up as they go along because no one there seems to be on the same page. After what happened in my situation I dont know how much help Romalia would be to you anyway. If I were you I would still show up prepared to orientation on Mon 7/18. As you have seen on these threads everyone's situation has been different. It doesnt hurt to try, maybe by then a space will be available for you.
Kermina,
Thanks for your input and sharing your experience.
I did get an email from Romalia Olivera responding to a previous inquiry... so that was nice.
There was NO indication on my email that I'm assigned to the Homestead campus. One blogger here mentioned it was EZ to see (on the acceptance email) if you were assigned to the Homestead campus. My zip code is much farther north... Homestead campus is not an option for me.
Yes, I plan to be there bright and early Monday morning. And I'm so thankful for the collaboration that goes on here. Otherwise, I would not have been informed of the change. Let's see what happens Monday morning.
