  1. Not really... I had planned to read during the break, but I still havent cracked open a book. I've been enjoying my free time, sleep, and my son. But I'm definately getting back into "school mode" tonight. I think the first topic for med surg is Neurological so I'm going to try at least read that before class. Have you gotten a syllabus from any of your teachers? I'm in seq B so I have Coombs for both Med Surg and Pharm. Who do you have?
  2. Ch 6 for vital signs, and p 38-78 for next week
  3. That's cool. I would like to eventually join a study group after I get in the school groove. Did you ever get any study aids?
  4. Pixie, We have the same exact schedule!
  5. I have Prof Ponce as well. Thanks a lot for the syllabus info... I'll Probably start reading and taking notes this weekend. :)
  6. For those of you who got your Fundamentals syllabus, Can you please post the readings for the first week? I'm in sequence 2 and I havent received an email from my professor. Thanks
  7. Just got back from Med campus... apparently there was a big system issue that occured over the weekend that dropped many students on all campuses- not just Nursing. I went to advisement first, who sent me to registration where they reregistered me in the classes that the system dropped. But I had to go to the Nursing dept to get 1025L added to my schedule. There were herds of students there with the same issue. A lot of them had all their classes dropped, some who had who already paid for them. The people in the Nursing dept were very helpful to the people with schedule issues- they were seeing them one at a time to fix it.
  8. Zaptastic Wow... I had the same issue with my Calculus class. They had to go into the computer and override something. I think it may be same issue why I was dropped this time too. I will definately let you know what happens today. I've come to realize that I can't get anything accomplished by phone or email at MDC. I only get results when they see my face... which really sucks cause I'm driving from Broward
  9. The same thing happened to me... I've been missing 1025C and 1025L for a week now. Yesterday the system dropped me fromm 1142. I dont think you'll be dropped from the program- it's probably just a glitch. I called Registration a few times and I was told that they are having a lot of issues with the Nursing course registrations. The majority of the full-time classes were put on a Nursing Department hold and can only be registered in with a closed class card. You wont see the courses in the open course search but if you do a search on the reference number in the registration menu it will tell you if the class is full or not.I checked on the classes that I chose with Romalia and they are still available, so I'm going in person to handle this first thing in the morning.
  10. I also have seq 2, with classes on Tues and Thurs, Clinical at Jackson North on Fri (located off 167 st in North Miami Beach). I like that we have built-in study time between classes. For me its better to study during the day because I'm on Mommy duty in the evenings. I've already planned out my weekly schedule to dedicate enough time to studying, chores, and time with my son. I want to get into a routine so I dont become overwhelmed. I'm definately down for getting a study group together if anyone's interested. maybe we can get together off campus on Mon or Thurs since we dont have to be on campus. I have a lot of good study books- Fundamentals Success, Reviews and Rationales, Test Success, Saunders NCLEX Review, and STAT Critical Thinking Cases... I also checked out our instructors on ratemyprofessor.com and they all got pretty decent reviews. A lot of former students recommended taping the lectures. I never did that in the past because I'm a visual learner but I think I'm going to try it this semester.
  11. Has anyone been registered yet? I just received my background confirmation email from MDC. I already know what classes I want, but I'm not sure what to do next. When i looked at the open class search, I didnt see many of the skills labs or clinicals left for full time...

  13. Fem, When I got my acceptance email it said I was accepted to the Homestead campus. The advisor I spoke with when I turned in my response form said that they place students according to zip code and since I live in Pembroke Pines it would be straightened out by orientation. I spoke to someone else in the nursing department and she told me to speak with Romalia Oliver. I called many times, emailed, and left voicemail for Romalia and got no response. Then last week I recieved the call saying that I was assigned to go to the Homestead orientation. I explained my situation and the woman I spoke to said that it was strange that I was accepted to Homestead since I received my acceptance in the first batch (June 13th). She said she would look into it and call me back. I then called Romalia and by some miracle she answered her phone- only to tell me that that there was absolutely no space on the Medical Campus and that they were not switching students to that campus regardless of where they lived. She went on to say that if I wanted to go to there I would have to reapply for the Spring. I even asked her if there was a waiting list that I could be put on in case a space opened up- she said no. I told her that I heard that other students in my situation were being switched and she asked me which advisors were doing so because they are NOT supposed to. I explained that I had already scheduled a flight out of town for the 20th just so I could attend the original orientation and that there was no way I could attend the Homestead Orientation. She said under those circumstances I could attend the orientation on Mon and Tues but still had to go to Homestead. So needless to say I was all distraught and disappointed after calculating the 55 min commute I would have to take to get to Homestead (because I refused to sit out another semester because of this BS), and then the phone rang. I missed the call but got a voicemail from Reba saying that I had been switched to Medical campus. I dont know what the heck is going on with MDC... Maybe they're just making it up as they go along because no one there seems to be on the same page. After what happened in my situation I dont know how much help Romalia would be to you anyway. If I were you I would still show up prepared to orientation on Mon 7/18. As you have seen on these threads everyone's situation has been different. It doesnt hurt to try, maybe by then a space will be available for you.
  14. I got a call saying that full-time for Homestead campus would be on the 21st and 22nd. Medical Campus will still be on the 18th and 19th.
