MDC Fall 2011 =)

Published

Hi guys! Who else is applying for MDC Fall 2011?

I am also applying for FIU-- I was accepted last year to MDC but for financial and personal reasons could not attend. :'( Who else will be applying to Generic FT? Please state what program you will be applying to!

I will be taking the TEAS sometime in March, in which I will also be taking the HESI A2 for FIU. So I might as well be studying for both, lol. Anybody taken the TEAS at MDC? Share your experiences here! :) I will be using a general book for nursing school entrance exams... it's by Barron... and I will be studying my math from a nursing calculation book, and my sciences from my anatomy, biology, and other notes. Is it true there is geology on the exam? How irrelevant... lol

Well good luck to us all! :heartbeat

News to all the part-timers: I recently got called from Miami-Dade College and was told that orientation has been moved to the 18th; 19th for the ATI test.

And like the song, "And if you don't know, now you know."

So orientation for part time and full time will be the same days. Are they both at medical?

Fcat: call the Med Campus and ask for Remy. If she is too busy, leave your name, ID and tel number. She will call you back or have someone call you back and give you an update on your application. I called and they returned my call the same day. Good Luck!

Ohhh!!! Thank you for the info. I am going back to Miami tomorrow, so I will be at the medical campus on Friday to see what's up LOL!!!

No, for the part-time program orientation will be this next Monday; ATI 'ridiculous "learning styles" test' on Tuesday.

For full time orientation will be on Thursday the 21st and you know, ATI test the following day.

Now I have to rearrange my work schedule and speak with my director.:uhoh3: After all changes had been made. Then again, what else can you expect from MDC? This school needs new reform, believe it. This year they really messed up. First, with the May part-time program that got cancelled. Then... you know what, it's just frustration just talking about it.

C'mon people, kudos me on this one.

just so everyone know there is no open seat at the medical campus. so if u do get accepted it will be at homestead

what do you mean? what seats? what program?

1000!............Sorry. Had to.

Hang on - I'm in the full time and I haven't gotten a call about this. No one told me our orientation has been moved.

hi guys! :D

i posted this on the generic full time thread but i'll post here too seeing that this is the thread with all of us:

i just spoke to the nursing department at med campus. this is what has changed:

part time med campus orientation is now with full time generic med campus orientation on july 18th

the homestead campus part time and full time generic orientation is on july 21st.

so, we are still supposed to be there on the regular schedule of the 18th and 19th. ;)

thank you for clarifying that! :yeah:

Hello, everyone! What a crazy few days with orientation (accelerated) and trying to get various things resolved...

But now to something that is probably on everyone's mind: costs. After getting the list of required textbooks and supplies, costs are rising rapidly! I put together a list of all costs from start to finish (this is a first draft, so, people, please add if I forgot something )

Tuition (the biggest) - $5200

Books and office supplies - $1000 (this one can vary, depending on how many used books you can find, but I pretty much just plugged in new book prices from various online sources like ebay and amazon)

Nursing supplies - $350 (includes full uniform-120, shoes-50, nursing kit-100, stethoscope-80)

Pre-admission costs - $300 (things like CPR class, blood tests, vaccines, background check; this may be much higher if you need more vaccines)

NCLEX registration - $200

NCLEX review books - $200

Total - $7250 (+/- a few hundred, depending on many of the factors listed above)

Also, for books, there are a ton of extra study guides (both for classes and NCLEX) that may help, so budget another $200 if you think you will be getting a few of those.

I know finances are a pain to worry about, but I hope this helps some people in budgeting

This is really helpful, thank you!

People who don't get accepted this fall should definitely keep this in mind! That way they can save and prepare and check off some of those things in the list so it's less things to worry about next fall.

I know i definitely will if i don't get in.

Thanks again!

Hey LC2012 last post made me curious, can anyone who got accepted this fall post attachments or add in a list the supply list, books, etc that we need for the program? any specifics would help.

I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you!
