Hi guys! Who else is applying for MDC Fall 2011?
I am also applying for FIU-- I was accepted last year to MDC but for financial and personal reasons could not attend. :'( Who else will be applying to Generic FT? Please state what program you will be applying to!
I will be taking the TEAS sometime in March, in which I will also be taking the HESI A2 for FIU. So I might as well be studying for both, lol. Anybody taken the TEAS at MDC? Share your experiences here! :) I will be using a general book for nursing school entrance exams... it's by Barron... and I will be studying my math from a nursing calculation book, and my sciences from my anatomy, biology, and other notes. Is it true there is geology on the exam? How irrelevant... lol
Well good luck to us all! :heartbeat
Wow cannot believe you had to take them again b/c of that! Crazy...I had to redo an A&P 1 lecture last semester cause the community college I took them at only offered 3 credits for lecture and lab...I have to redo their micro lab this summer too b/c of the same reason they really need to have more consistency throughout these programs what a waste of time and money...are you applying to FIU aswell salutations? And congrads on your rockin TEAS score!!! Now you've got me thinking maybe I should have taken my second shot oh well...it is what it is... :) I would say you've probably got top score and absolutely nothing to worry about! :) congrads!

Lala, I wouldn't really be able to say where you stand, but I think that the accelerated program will be less competitive than the generic program.
Your GPA and TEAS give you an entrance score of 82.82. I would think that's a good score for the program. Ultimately, the only way we'll know is when the mail comes!
Marah, I'm actually only applying to the generic and accelerated programs at MDC. I looked into all of the programs in the Miami area, and MDC had one of the best passing rates, fewer pre-req's that I was missing, and the cost of attendance is significantly lower at MDC than anywhere else. I am hoping to be able to start the generic program this fall, but will just have to wait until June (UGH! Not a patient person.)
Pnky, I the TEAS V is a national exam, so while the questions might not be the same on each date or testing center, or even each student, it covers the same percentage of each question in the given categories.
Lala, I was also given the impression that the accelerated program is a little less competitive than the generic program. I unsuccessfully asked several times and searched for any historical data on entrance scores that were accepted. . . I guess we'll all just have to wait to see.
I am sorry I have no idea what the scores are that they actually accept I am sure it is higher than what they say they require in order to apply though...I think some of it changes each semester depending on the scores of those applying. I do know that 40% of what they look at is your GPA of your science classes and 60% is what you get on the TEAS V. So if your GPA is not so hot but you rock on the TEAS you have a good shot of getting in. Or if you have a solid GPA but your not as good on standardized tests, as long as you do decent, you should also be alright but they do put more emphasis on the TEAS...hope that helps ya =) Good luck!!

did you took the teas already and if you did was it difficult or any words of advice?
Hey everyone!
I took the TEAS and completed all of my prerequisites but I can't seem to find the application so I can drop it off at Miami Dade. Do I have to pick up the application from the Medical Campus and go back again to turn it in? I feel like a slacker since the application is due May 1st but I figured it would be an online process however, I can't find the application anywhere. Can someone please fill me in?

The application is done at the medical campus, you have to fill up a two pages application, pay a $25 application fee, ask to talk to an advisor and you are done, very easy, fast and simple process, the hard part is the waiting afterwards lol !!! Hope that helped!!!
*I am sorry to ask, what did you get on the teas?
