MDC Fall 2011 =)

Published

Hi guys! Who else is applying for MDC Fall 2011?

I am also applying for FIU-- I was accepted last year to MDC but for financial and personal reasons could not attend. :'( Who else will be applying to Generic FT? Please state what program you will be applying to!

I will be taking the TEAS sometime in March, in which I will also be taking the HESI A2 for FIU. So I might as well be studying for both, lol. Anybody taken the TEAS at MDC? Share your experiences here! :) I will be using a general book for nursing school entrance exams... it's by Barron... and I will be studying my math from a nursing calculation book, and my sciences from my anatomy, biology, and other notes. Is it true there is geology on the exam? How irrelevant... lol

Well good luck to us all! :heartbeat

Hey Fcat have you tried calling the med campus and explaining what is going on? maybe someone will cancel and they will have an open spot? that is crazy that you would have to wait till spring...

Thanks to God I was able to get a spot to do the test on the 20th, So now I can just pray and pass. I feel very relief now ;-)

Good! I am glad it has worked out for you. Good luck on the test! :)

Awesome! I wish you lots of success, and have a great time in Brazil! :D

Hey guys, just did the teas today, and was not as easy as I thought it would be, well to make a long story short, I got a 70.

Good luck to all of us :-)

Can you tell us what the test entails more or less? Were the questions similar to the ones in the ATI study manual? What about the science, did it have a lot of anatomy? One of my friends took it and said he did not receive any anatomy questions. Sorry for all the questions. I'm taking it on monday and would like to know what to expect. Thanks! :)

Well to be honest there were no questions related to anatomy, some physiology. I think the ATI book gives you an idea of the topics that will be covered in the exam, but the questions are not as easy as the book puts, you really need to know a little bit beyond what the book says in order for you to do good, well at least that is the impression I got. The reading part I thought was not hard, but at the end it was the part where I got the lowest score, so be careful!!! The math is easy, basic math, so no problem with that!!!

Well Good Luck to you on Monday, and let us know how you did!!!

I also took the TEAS this week. The ATI study guide helped me prepare and feel prepared. I went through the whole guide in three days; the first two days, I did the 'review', answering the practice questions along the way. The next day, I took the first practice test, scored it, and outlined what I needed to review.

The day before I took the TEAS, I continued to review the concepts that I wasn't sure on- one of which is metric to English conversions. This was NOT necessary, as my particular version gave me the applicable conversion for each question. I also remember that one question was simply reworded from the ATI guide, but I'm not sure if it was from the practice test or the review portion.

I actually scored 8.7 points higher on the TEAS than I did on the practice test.

As for anatomy, I do not recall if there was a significant amount of in depth anatomy; I took my A&P 2 lab final yesterday, and will be taking my finals for A&P 1, 2, and 1 lab within the next week, so I've been pretty A&P'd out!

I hope this helps :)

Are you taking A & P 1 and 2 at the same time? Congratulations to everyone who is done with the TEAS woohoo!

Thank you so much for all your information. I am definitely going to study all weekend and take the practice tests as well. Hopefully this will help me out. Will let you guys know how I do :) thanks again.

What was your score on the TEAS

Marah:

This semester, I took A&P 1, 2, their labs, and microbiology. I took all of them online except for A&P 2 lab, which was not available online. I would not suggest doing this unless you have already taken A&P before, as was my situation. I took Anatomy and Physiology at FIU, but the word 'human' wasn't in the name, so I was required to retake them. I was told in advising that I would not be able to take both A&P's at the same time, but the system let me register :p Do well on Monday- just breath and take it one question at a time; I think we all stress too much!

Fcat:

I actually scored in the 90's! This was higher than I thought it would be based on the practice test I took, and I was pleasantly surprised when my score popped up on the screen. :D
