I'll be in the full time bridge program as well 🤗 Wish u the best of luck !! U kno anything about what books we will need yet?

I kno I'm kinda late lol but Congrats to everyone who has been accepted! Has any body seen a book list yet?

Hi guys,

I spoke to the bookstore and was told that there will be an book package for those enrolled in the accelerated program. This book package will cost about $376 (comes with pharmacology practice quiz) and will consists of the textbooks needed for the first and second semester. I believe that the package will become available towards the end of next week. I'm not sure which editions of the books they will be, but maybe once they are in we can compare prices with other competitors.

thanks

Hi guys,

Congratulations to those who got accepted ! I am about to finish (HESI Exit tomorrow) but I do feel I am prepared for this last exam.

It's gonna be an intense journey; most of you are gonna hate it, sometimes the whole program wont make sense and u will get upset and disappointed but its totally worth it. By the end of the last semester, u will see how much u have learned. Your mentality and thought process will be changed. You will think you are not learning but you are.

Fundamentals was the hardest class for most of us but once you hit Medsurg1 everything will start clicking and you will be able to put the pieces together. Study lots for Fundies 'cause this class is truly the glue that keeps the things together during the whole program. If you are able to understand and pass fundamentals you r gonna easily make it. Do not expect it to be like other classes or thr pre requisites; u will be shocked. The thing is that the answers are all right you will have to think critically and most of the times what you think is right is wrong. You have to be so good at strategies, do not read into the questions and don't think to much. That's the problem we always had.

Now , my tips before starting:

Uniform: nobody really cares as soon as its green ( or white for the rotations @hospital; make sure it has the MDC logo). Professors do not pay attention to those details; nobody really has time for that.

CPR from the American Heart Association; you do the course or take the classes on your own. Just make sure its issued by then.

You could do the whole physical @MDC Medical for about $250. If your HCP or Health Care Plan can do it go for it. Just make sure they sign all the paperwork before you upload these documents to Complio. You don't want those guys to email you every single day 'cause u r missing a paper or a signature. Once you start nursing school you do not have time for much else (waste of time). Try to work less than 20 hours per week; fundies is hard. Pharm and medsurg is doable working 20 hrs a week but you will be tired. If you are working more than 20 try to get a new job or talk to your boss or you wont make it.

Books change every now and then...

You pick the schedule after the third day of orientation; once the whole orientation is done they send you out and open the classes, I guess there r two sequences for Fall. Have the classes u want ready in a piece of paper or ready cause its a nightmare to get registered. Classes get full real quick ( most ppl wanna have their clinical experience with their friends.

Meet a group of dedicated and caring students and create a study group; be serious about it. If someone is lazy dump him/her. Its nursing school and classes are hard; be smart about it.

If any of you have questions about the professors feel free to email me; I can give you tips.

I am not sure about the books for this coming semester but I do have mine...If anyone needs them just email me. I hope they are still the same. I believe the only book they have changed so far is Medsurg. I have the rest of them in case someone need them; Just email me and I could give to the same person who needs it---> [email protected]

If anyone has any questions feel free to ask I will probably be around here sometime soon

Good luck to you all !

Glad you guys made it !

Does it specify what we have to wear or can we just wear jeans?

Hi

i just called the campus and they said here was no specific dress code for the nursing orientation. She just said to dress appropriately :)

Jeans and a nice blouse good enough I hope.

Anyone know if the influenza shot is a requirement right now to complete the complio requirements or is that just something they ask for during the flu season?

Does anyone know the price for the Hep B vaccine at the school's clinic?
