MDC Fall 2011 - PART TIME Program

Published

Hi Everyone,

So far it appears like I've only been accepted into the part-time RN program at MDC.edu (Miami Dade College) for August 2011 (Fall 2011).

There is another LONG thread for MDC Fall 2011, but it isn't specific to the part-time program. I'm not sure if other students who have been accepted to the part-time program will start collaborating, but if they do, this might be one good place to start!

Sincerely,

Fem

P.S. Well, it has taken me 3 (three) tries to create a new discussion thread. I'm hoping this is in the proper place & location. I'm hoping I get some students post here. Collaboration is a wonderful thing.

Good morning F.E.M (or should I say, "Fa__.") lol

I'll be going to school today to turn in all my documents; the background check and the medical history papers. So, I'll check the schedule for the part-timers, us. Furthermore, when I went to see him this past Tuesday, he told me he'll have it posted on the third floor of the nursing building, to not come see him.

Even so, I'll keep you all posted through this 'blog' site or if you have any questions or concerns simply contact me at my hotline, A.K.A E-mail address.

Turned in my background paperwork (that MDC emailed to me) to MDC today.

The schedule had been removed from the "wall of fame".

Now there was a BIG long list of academic advisors and students assigned to them.

My name (boo hoo) was not listed.

No academic advisor yet for me.

I believe the Fall schedule for part-timers will be...

T 6-7:30p (one class)

Th 6-7:30p (one class)

Sat 8a-3p (2 classes - one right after the other - 1hr break in between)

Name tags take 3 weeks.. order yours ASAP

Read on the Full-Time blog ...

go to mdc.edu and view/print your schedule.

Some people have their schedules.

FEM,

Check you class schedule on the MDC website, mine is posted, except one class is missing. Also, we dont need the uniform or any of its accessories until January when we start clinicals, so dont worry about the rush for the name tag.

My schedule, too, shows 3 classes scheduled and 1 missing (1025C)

Maybe the C means clinical and it won't be assigned til January?

I don't know... I thought 1025C = Cinical Skills LAB. (a prep class on campus)

Too late... already ordered the name tag. $6. LOL.

I knew the clinicals weren't til January... but I was thinking we might have

to wear them to the name tag to the Clinical Skills Lab?

I've heard we are SUPPOSED to wear our COLLEGE ID on campus.

But I've only seen a handful of actually students doing it.

You guys are all bright.... let me know what you think!

Always greatful for your two cents.:twocents:

So, do you think we can do without (for now) that "bag of supplies" offered in the bookstore for $100? I recall in orientation that we are not to unseal certain items in the bag until the instructor tells us to do so. Being the curious type... glad they said that, I'd inevitably want to view, experiment etc with everything in the bag!

Hey Fem, no I would not buy anything. I bought the uniform but returned it when they said we wouldnt start until January. Do yo uknow what the absence policy is? I am trying to miss a Saturday class on the 8th but am afraid to.

I'm sorry, no, I don't know what the absence policy is.

ISBN NUMBERS for BOOKLIST - If anyone happens to know the ISBN numbers for the book list, I'm all ears. Yes, I have the yellow sheet that show the textbook name, author, & edition... but if I'm shopping online, don't want to accidentally acquire an international edition or loose-leaf edition. Some sellers don't tell "the whole story".

Anyone know what we need to take on our first day and first week of class?

If I had a syllabus (I hear some full-timer's have some) I'd feel better equipped to answer your question. I'm hoping first day of class we will only need textbooks?
