MD Anderson GN Residency Spring 2015

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

This thread is for anyone who applied for the MD Anderson Spring 2015 GN Residency. Just a way to stay informed about the interview/hiring process. I had my panel interview 10/13/14 and waiting to hear something. Please share any thoughts or info you may have. Good luck everyone!

I called Toni on Monday to get a quick follow up. She told me I would be receiving an offer. She said the official calls should go out by Thursday. And official letter would be going out in the mail by Friday.

I interviewed on 10/13 and still haven't heard anything back. Getting really nervous.

@ peaches816 am so sorry to hear that. You will find a job that is just right for you. How did you find out? Did you get an email from MDA?

Yes I received an email

I talked to Toni's assistant today and she said it would be a couple more weeks before some people hear anything back. I guess it depends on what area you want to work in. The manager's of each area of interest have to review all the candidate's profiles and then communicate with the recruiter about who they want on their unit.

Applied, haven't heard anything back. Neither have my my friends except one who got an email and didn't get an offer. :/

Did any of you ask how many positions were open for the residency? The website says 25, in person my friend was told 40.

Spoke to Toni around 3 today and she told me that she had almost completed the paperwork for the offers & was still waiting for a couple more spots for people. She told me she expects to be making calls tomorrow & then asked if I was fine receiving my call on Saturday so she may be doing phone calls on Saturday as well. She planned to send out the letters tomorrow as well. My assumption is if you hadn't already received a rejection email them you may be receiving an offer.

I'm praying hard for this. I sure hope so. Thanks for the update!

Toni just emailed me extending me an offer!! Good luck to everyone!

Hi everyone!

First, congratulations to those have have been accepted into this Residency! For those still waiting: fingers crossed for you!

I was wondering if those who have had interviews could share some of your interview questions. I am in the process of applying to a different New Grad program in my area and am trying to prepare myself. I've got books, previous allnurses posts, youtube, and google searches, but hearing about how a more recent interview process went would be really helpful!

Panel interviews are always scenario questions.

Tell me about a time when you had to work with someone difficult and how did you handle it?

Tell me about a time when a patients condition changed rapidly and what did you do?

Tell me about a time that there was a significant change in policy and how did you adapt to it?

why do you want to work for us?

Why nursing?

What can you bring to our organization?

Name one thing that nursing school taught you?

Tell me me about a time when you implemented a change or improvement?

Stuff like that. Always tie your answers in to relate to clinicals or nursing

Wow thank you for responding so fast! This is a great list :)

It's all behavioral based questions. When they called saying I got the interview they told me to google behavioral based questions to prepare for the interview. Good luck!
