MCG Clinical Nurse Leader - Fall 2010

Published

I have applied to MCG's MSN-CNL Program to start in Fall 2010, and I am wondering if current/past students could tell me when (as in what month) they received a phone call for an interview or acceptance/rejection letters.

Additionally, I applied to the Athens Campus program, so will the interview be held in Athens, or will I need to drive to Augusta? Thanks for helping me plan ahead :) I really hope I am the type of candidate they are looking for!

Dear JG2010:

I did apply for the scholarship and I was told the same thing. I would like to talk to you, if you do not mind.

Thanks,

Attilamom

I don't know how many of you have Mac computers but I ordered some of my books and the CDs that comes with "Davis's Drug Guide" and "Davis's Laboratory and Diagnostic Tests with Nursing Implications" do not work on Macs :( Just FYI. I thought they were making almost everything compatible with Mac nowadays.

Also, is there anyone going to the Athens Campus that has gotten their patches yet? If so, how did you go about doing that?

Thanks!

I called the main bookstore to ask and they said that the satellite campuses usually put together a group order at the beginning of the semester. The Augusta bookstore then ships them to the campuses and we don't have to pay shipping. Based on the email we received regarding orientation, etc, today, we should be fine waiting until later to order the patches.

What brands/styles of scrubs have you guys liked or bought? I'm sort of small, so lots of stuff looks sloppy on me because its too wide/long (even in xs!). I found a set that I like and fits well, but it has an elasticized back--does anyone know if this is allowed or not? I e-mailed OM, and she said to wait for the e-mail from Prof. Bourgault, but that didn't really clarify anything. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that fitted is okay.

I applied to Athens campus and got selected to Augusta campus. I am settled in Athens and moving to Augusta is really hectic for me. Anybody (who is selected to Athens campus) interested to move to Augusta campus from Athens?

elizanne-

check out scrubs made by Izzy, Peaches, or Greys Anatomy. The styles they carry in stores tend to be more "trendy" as far as colors but many uniform stores can order you anything that the companies make, so I'd ask to order a plain navy if not on the racks. Peaches specializes in "misses fit" and Izzy is more of a teens/junior fit and I'd definetly recommend Izzy for you if you are petite in height as well. I like the way Izzy brand fits so they don't look so sloppy, but I'm 5'6 so they tend to be just a tad shorter (both the pants and the torso length on the tops) than I prefer to wear, but would be perfect for someone about 5'4 or even shorter. The cinched back is fine-I "inherited" a top from a student who graduated one day when at the SONAT and it has a cinched back. Grey's Anatomy scrubs have a fitted or drawstring option for some of the tops too which may help you out. Best thing is to go to a store with a wide selection and try on sizes before you order. I don't know where you live but Uniforms Unlimited in Athens has a big selection and I know they carry the 3 brands I mentioned. Just an FYI, Greys Anatomy scrubs will be noticeably more expensive than the other scrub brands. The material is much softer than standard scrubs and I'm sure the advertising/show affiliation has a lot to do with the extra cost. Also, washing the first time in hot water and drying on high heat helps shrink them up a little. You can also get pants hemmed if just a length issue and the fit otherwise is good. Hope that helps!

I believe there were 29 acceptances for Athens given out, only 26 have registered for classes so far. Regular registration doesn't close until tomorrow, so they may fill up. If not, is there a chance that you could petition for a campus transfer if one of these people didn't accept their spot? Hope you find a way to make it work!

I just cross my fingers and wait. If anybody is ready for an exchange, it would have been a great help for me, rather a great surprise...!!!

How do you check and know how many registered for classes on each campus?

Go to Pulse-->Registration-->Look Up Classes-->Semester:Fall 2010-->Subject: Nursing, Campus: Athens Campus, Course Level: Graduate Semester

It shows capacity, actual number registered, and spots remaining.

Thanks bdanders.

There's still nothing on my PULSE about Financial Aid, but I think someone on here said that the Fin Aid Office would post after July 7th? I'll call tomorrow, and I'll post again if I find out anything different (besides, PULSE is still saying that I haven't done my Direct Loan Counseling... and I have).

Has anyone started buying textbooks yet? I wish we knew which ones we need right away and which ones we don't need until - let's say - a month from now. I plan on just using Amazon.com and Half.com to buy mine - in my experience, college bookstores tend to mark up a lot :/

Five weeks until Orientation!
