  1. Hey, I LOVE it so far. I'm on the Athens campus. The professors are great, we have a great group in Athens, and I like going to lectures and lab. We start clinical in a couple weeks. Everyone on our campus comes from different backgrounds. Most of us do not have any health care experience, but some of us volunteered at a local hospital or worked in a healthcare facility in some capacity. However, we're all pretty upbeat and committed individuals who are supportive of each other. I would suggest getting A's in the rest of your pre-requisites, doing the very best you can at the GRE, writing a good essay, and being friendly/professional at your interview. The Program Manager Olivia Mitchell is the perfect person to contact with your question - she could probably give you some statistics or suggestions.
  2. I've been trying to do some research on the Internet, but I've found that not many nursing programs post the total amount of clinical/lab hours you will have acquired upon graduation. Of course, I understand that the total amount of lab/clinical hours may not have much to do with the rigor of your lectures or nursing program - there are other things to consider, too. Where do you attend, what program are you in (BSN, etc.), and how many TOTAL clinical/lab hours does your program require?
  3. Mine were organized as per term. I did this: Login to PULSE > click Student Services & Financial Aid > click Financial Aid > click Award > click Award for Aid Year > click on the Award Overview tab > scroll down I'm actually canceling some of my disbursement, but it isn't reflected on PULSE yet. I'm excited to be attending MCG, but their Financial Aid and Admissions offices are a lot slower than my last college - I'm not used to that :/
  4. Ugh, didn't even notice that. I just bought the ISBN number specified in the booklist. Hopefully they won't be too different.
  5. @trin22: I have a few answers for you, and everyone else can probably help you with the rest. - I don't think there's any preference to the GRE or MAT as long as you have a competitive score. I know the website gives a minimum score required, but if I were you, I would call to find out the average MAT score of last year's accepted students... it's undoubtedly higher. For example, the minimum GRE score is 900 for the CNL Program, but I believe that the average score of those accepted last year was actually around 1100. - The two introductory chemistry courses I took were actually pre-requisites for biochemistry at my university. So, I just took the two intro's and didn't worry about taking biochemistry. - The chemistry courses and microbiology course I took had a required lab component - I couldn't take one without the other. I don't know if this made me more competitive, but I would call or e-mail Olivia Mitchell (the CNL Program Coordinator) to see what she thinks. I think all of us here have had to contact her at least once - she's great! - You must have all of your pre-reqs done by the time the program starts. A lot of the accepted students for Fall 2010 are actually finishing their pre-req's this summer.
  6. I am FINALLY sending MCG my Certificate of Immunization. Do we need need to send off the forms that document our TB Skin Test if the result was Negative?
  7. JG2010 and attilamom, I also applied. Feel free to message me!
  8. There's still nothing on my PULSE about Financial Aid, but I think someone on here said that the Fin Aid Office would post after July 7th? I'll call tomorrow, and I'll post again if I find out anything different (besides, PULSE is still saying that I haven't done my Direct Loan Counseling... and I have). Has anyone started buying textbooks yet? I wish we knew which ones we need right away and which ones we don't need until - let's say - a month from now. I plan on just using Amazon.com and Half.com to buy mine - in my experience, college bookstores tend to mark up a lot :/ Five weeks until Orientation!
  9. I also plan on sticking with my provider (also BCBS). I'm doing the online waiver as soon as Pearce and Pearce lets me select Fall 2010 (right now, they're only doing Summer II waivers).
  10. MCG has cashed my $100 confirmation check, and I received a letter confirming my deposit, but I'm still not in eGuide. Did this happen to anyone else?
  11. Hey! I will be in Athens! Welcome to AllNurses! I think there's six of us on this thread right now. You make seven :) We also have a FB group which I am careful not to refer to much because once I got a warning from AN about it I just finished my pre-req's in May, and I'm sure there are others who are doing their pre-req's in summer school.
  12. Thanks, Adriane! I went onto Amazon to get an idea of the price range of stethoscopes - they range from $5 to $150. What's a good price range for a beginning nurse? Does anyone have any brand recommendations? My first impression is that $5 sounds seems too low even for a beginning nurse, but I could be wrong!
  13. I've edited this a million times - I am sorry. I have some silly vaccine questions: - Am I supposed to have five doses of OPV? According to my paperwork, it seems like I had four. - I think I read this earlier in the thread, but since I cannot find it now, I will ask - is having had chicken pox not good enough? - The Hepatitis B section has two rows (Recombivax Hb or Engerix B hepatitis B) and (Twinrix combined hepatitis A and B vaccine). Do I only need one or the other (for a total of three) and NOT both lines (for a total of six)? PS, My name isn't in the system yet, either. I hope they received my check in time.
  14. Hey Athens, do we know on what date Orientation will be?
  15. I plan on applying - I want to keep my student loans as low as I can. I wish we had been given more time, though. Still nothing in the mail here, either.
