MCC nursing applicants for 2015

Published

Hello everyone!

I've been obsessively reading over the threads for the 2013 and 2014 applicants, but I thought I'd see if anyone will be applying to the Nursing program at Macomb Community College for 2015. I am a transfer student from Texas and will be taking A&P this summer then intro to Nursing (since MCC requires that you take their specific course) and micro in the Fall. I'm so excited to get back into school and was wondering if anyone is following along the same timeline.

@Seamaj01, you are right about that it not being a perquisites for their nursing program. I am taking it towards a GenEd class. If you do the Michigan Transfer Agreement, you will need 2 courses in the Humanities and Fine Arts. I have Ethics, and was going to do Comparitive Religion for my other. If you do the MTA, you get your transcripts stamped and won't have to do GenEds for other colleges. If that makes sense.

I'm surprised the Advisor didn't tell you that. I went to OU to speak to an Advisor as well and she told me to complete the MTA, because I'm closer to finishing that than going for OU'S GenEds which require a foreign language, lit class, and some others. It's also cheaper at Macomb obviously.

Hi KaitlynN,

My stomach is in knots as well. I got a 3.8065 and an 84 on the HESI. I am literally choking with anxiety, and that letter did nothing to alleviate my fear of not being accepted to the program. I really do not think with that HESI score, I will be accepted. I guess the best thing to do is PRAY!!

Agreed!! I cried after i took my hesi because i was so disappointed with my 84. I am just praying as well. I don't even care about having a March start, i just want to be in! I don't want to have to retake classes or retake the hesi. I am doing my best not to think about it but how could you not?! Your gpa is pretty high so i think you got this! Good luck to you!

I'm in PHED 2070: Wellness Prevention right now. It's an easy, informative class that teaches things such as CPR, first aid, and other valuable information that is really useful. You also get your CPR certification at the end of the course which is good for 2 years. It's a good class to have toward this career choice and I highly recommend it!

I'm I'm intro to Ethics. I like it! Did everyone do their PHED credit? I have to do that in the summer. What class should I take?

@KaitlynN, I plan on taking another course towards my bachelor's like comparitive religions... What teacher did you have? Can you PM me since we can't post it on here?

@Sweetpea, thank you! I was going to actually do that but wasn't sure if I could go that many days in a row in the summer. I found a class that was twice a week. I think I will take that one. Thanks again!

I will also be taking PHED 2070 this summer depending on what days are available, i still have to check :)

I'll be taking the TTH 1pm one starting June 12th! Maybe I'll see you around lol.

I chose the M,T,W,TH class. I work 7-330 so i had to pick the class with the later start time (5pm). Not looking forward to a 4 hour class 4 times a week but at least it is only 2 weeks long lol. It's my last class that is required for my associates, (other than nursing program related classes obviously), so i just want to get it out of the way. Then in the fall i plan on starting to take classes that will go towards my bachelors since i probably won't start the program until March if i do get accepted.

I was going to do that class too, I just told my work that I would be more available in the summer. I actually think you will have an earlier start than March. I feel your pain on the 84 HESI. We have good GPAs, so I'm hoping that will save us.

It's only 2 weeks long??

I think it's 2 or 3 weeks, but it's Mon - Thurs 4-5 hours a day lol.

It is mon-thurs, 4 hours a day, for 2 weeks long. Dates are 5/26-6/11, which ends up being 11 days of class.
